FTSE 100 Intraday trading - August 2003

don't know whether its useless or not but I think todays gain line
is always of interest.
I din't have it in play because of the fib.

mully
couldnt say. possibly to short a time frame ?
my thinking is that the top line is still in play particularly
as we have a gap above 100
but who knows when ?

and 45 may still be in play too.

Hi Mully

On CMC as per Bonsai's chart above , had entered and left it to run with a 25 pt profit limit order, while I concentrated on the S+P

Nice to find that the ftse has followed the S+P up in the evening.

I have to admit that it looks as if I'd neatly exited following the double top but that was pure coincidence.

I agree with Steve+ Bonsai above - following the FTSE out of hours could be rewarding

Mully, the futures hi was 72 at about 8.08. With a diff of 20ish your 94.5 was possible.

Cheers

hmm
does nobody have a chart of what's what early this morning ?
I started late I'm afraid and dont have backfill so I cant resolve it

started at 8.03 but I dont have anything above 90

the little Yahoo chart has a spike up to just below 95 in the first five or so minutes (Yahoo have funny 9 period hours!)

got it.
thanks barjon

Bonsai

I notice that all the high volume is on the down candles. Appears someone is selling this market

Bonsai, That's how the future looks.
Jonnyy40, I've got Tenfore satellite on one machine and IB on another looking at Sierra's free trial at the mo.

Cheers

mully
surely
I dont think a retest of 45 would surprise anyone ?
but at the moment I am enjoying a period of 'masterful inactivity'

gotta go dammit - just when it might start getting interesting!

bet it will have all happened by the time i'm back.

cheers for now

jon

so quiet I assume everybody is long and watching the screen after that higher low?

If it can get there, I have the top line now around 99 and falling

Hi Bonsai,

Got hammered today - lost 26 points. I was out most of this morning and made the mistake of jumping in with a short when I got back, always a bad idea. Went long, but closed evens when it didn't go up with a Dow rally, then went short again, only this time the Ftse didn't go down with the Dow and then went up! Days like these you just have to walk away.

bonsai

got back too late!! might have pyramided when it cleared 80 but
90/95 too close for a first entry. hope you're in and making
money

good trading

yes HB, as Scarlett said
"Tomorrow is another day."

only one trade so far
after the higher low on macd.
getting late now so just a question of when to close.

lol
sb's seem ahead of the game ?
91,92,93 done
thank you.

edit
that was happening if you noticed while the dow was busy falling.

may go higher but looked a bit 'odd' to me at 4.24

Not a great day for me. Sold very near actual low based on observation that volume had, up till then, been on the down bars. When market hit 70, closed for a loss of 11 points. Luckily only has one unit on, so very modest loss. So hungrybear you are not on your own.
Waited to enter long but got bored/hot by 1.30pm and went out to do some shopping, pick up papers, and get a haircut .However, on return found market too high to re-enter.

FTSE100 in my p/f charts looks good , so the buyers will not give up until we see it trading lower than 043.

a los is a success if you followed your trading system.

Mully

Have to be a bit careful with short interval volume imo. If it's
unusually high it's as well to check since big volume one-offs like
lloy yesterday (and barc today?) are distorting - really needs to
be broad based volume to be significant imo.

Interested in your "maths" post - like you I'm quick to pyramid
but usually wait for a continuation sign before doing so. How do
you judge the action is with you before adding to your initial
position?

good trading
