Brexit and the Consequences

Yes but should you not be focusing on the rail network and businesses in London hiring such people?

I fail to see how Brexit will change over crowding?

it wont stop it but will not make it worse. control the numbers coming in. I heard Farage on the radio last night and a migration statistics group was on with him and said that we are going to have more people in the uk than Germany in and that by 2020 we will have more than France (memory recall not double checked but listen to the link).

That's not going to stop or prevent over crowding as from what I understand they will still let in skilled workers but aim to cut down on the low skilled type in the hope endegenoous popullation will step up to the mark or be trained to fullfill vacancies as and when...

it should be a case of letting people in on a visa and not allowing them to settle

Ok I understand you. If you are migrant labour then you come for fixed term contract. I like contracting. :)

Not sure how it can be made to work successfully but maybe worth a try I guess.

HS2 needs 10,000 new engineers over it's life time. Not sure about numbers to maintain system once built.

I'm also not sure if HS2 is a good idea either. I'm almost thinking building it to connect North UK from Birmingham upwards with improvements in existing services between Birmingham (or another) & London is likely to be a better value for money.

Otherwise I can see more people commuting and clogging London up. We're becoming like HK and they are talkign about building pods for people. Much like the Matrix :whistling

i agree hS2 is a waste of money. Rather invest in infrastructure up north and implement work from hom policies to alleviate transport pressure

Is this a fair explanation of the Liberal Elite?

As far as I can tell it's the vociferous Liberal Elite mainly, that want us to remain in the EU. And it also seems to me they are very knowledgeable on what's good for the rest of us. I rather like this explanation from the Spectator magazine on where us lesser mortals have gone wrong. It's rather long but worth a read IMHO. http://www.spectator.co.uk/2017/01/...ocy-of-the-liberal-elite-its-their-education/

"What explains the idiocy of the liberal elite? It’s their education. Getting to the point where you can’t imagine voting for Brexit or Trump takes years of hard, misguided study - James Bartholomew"

I'm enjoying the realignment. Not that I was ever One to be told what to think and to whom I should listen.

Actually all it takes is a moral compass.

Speaking of Liberal Elite, writers for TV shows are usually very liberal. Did anyone watch the first episode of the fourth "series" of Sherlock Holmes - The Six Thatchers?

Apparently, they really don't like Margaret Thatcher. A bust of her face was thrown down on the ground and smashed to bits six times. Added to that, Sherlock pretended like he couldn't remember whether or not she was a "she". That was a massive jab by the writers--an homage to the nickname "Iron Lady". Sherlock also did not say her name correctly through the entire episode.

Writers pushing their political agendas.

Brexit camp needs to stop smelling their own pooh.

BIG ASK is just what has Brexit delivered? Any outputs?

There you go something to help Brexiters analyse their productive output with this chart... :whistling

Enjoy :cheesy:

Unfortunately, that's the sort of thing you get from the BBC who are funded by all of us but have an agenda of their own – and tough if it doesn't suit you.

As to their Sherlock series – after the first few episodes which I thought were interesting, I gave up: so far removed from the original that it's Sherlock only in name. As a Sherlock fan – I read the books; Conan Doyle knew what he was about.

That's not bull. That's manure. Hot stuff. :)

In another 6 months that'll be fertilizer.

In another 12 months that'll be farm produce.

In another 2/3 weeks that'll be in the supermarket shelves.

In another 2/3 days, that'll end up on your plate.

What I'm trying to say it's simply too soon for all this self adulation, much like Brexiters jerking each other off, back slapping when nothing real has happened.

Yup! I reckon it'll be 5 years before we have any real idea of the success/failure of Brexit. All we know so far is that the immediate dire predictions of Project Fear have not been realised. I'm very optimistic though :)

Partially agree.

Fall in pound is not good. Brexiters may like to talk up exports will do better but on the other side, on the quiet side, foreign companies have been buying out British ones on the cheap.

ARM purchase by the Japanese is just one example. There is a myriad of others being bought out as A&M activity is on the increase and likely to continue as pound falls in consequence to hard Brexit.

In a nutshell foreign companies taking advantage of the 15-20% fall in the pound to buy out British companies.

This is not foreign investment it is a transfer of earning power, brand names and patents going on the cheap. You can be sure jobs will follow in due course to other destinations.

Beware, be prepared and follow due dilligence and do your homework. Hope and Glory, Ambitious and Optimistic politicians can't see sh1t but their names in history books for taking UK out of the EU without any plans or proper analysis.

I do agree, it will take years for any consequences to come through. BUT the signs eg: falling pound and British companies being bought out is not good imho.

I think it will take 10 years with the negative impact diminishing every year within that time frame.
