I tried doing comparisons but you wouldn't pay attention, saying it was "apples and oranges" and applying faulty math with the lottery and murders.

Why don't you try giving some real sources instead of Wikipedia. You always provide only one source. Try doing some real research. We can compare apples with apples when you and @Pat494 say which farm town in the norf you are from.

Here is a thought, try going to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics.

Do you actually believe these official govt BS numbers that you are fed.
Speaking of Fed, what's going on here then ? Either she was ill, or tired, or she couldn't quite believe the BS she had been given to read out! I suspect the latter

BTW, just so you know, there won't be any interest rate rise in Dec, despite everyone harping on about it. Here's how it goes down....the stock markets have started correcting and will continue to do so until the Fed gets the message to leave interest rates alone. Usd will also correct, but that's just a sideshow. At the Dec meeting, the Fed will delay bringing about any rate rise until spring / summer at the earliest. The Christmas rally will immediately ensue and the markets will make new highs way before the festive holidays.

It looked as though the thought of saying all that garbage was going to make her physically sick. I'm sure she had to swallow down a bit of vomit at the very end.

I have to disagree with you on the rate rise though. It will happen. (y)

Smooth move @counter_violent. Here you are telling me not to believe information from the Bureau of Justice Statistics and @postman does exactly that. He cited the BJS through Wikipedia.:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

@hhiusa
There is something fundamentally wrong in the USA and instead of trying to address the problem, the capitalist try to make money from it with private for profit prisons. There is no incentive to rehabilitate criminals when you make more money if they re-offend.
"Corrections (which includes prisons, jails, probation, and parole) cost around $74 billion in 2007 according to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics."

That laziness is why the UK will always be a bankrupt rock dependent upon the EU.

Wow! Nobody addressed the German, Sweden London comparison. That is probably because it is not very funny that they are less rapes, domestic violence, hate crimes and violent crimes against people in all of Germany or Sweden than in London (a single city).

Whether or not I am German is irrelevant. I am giving praise where it is due my band of raging atheist socialists. You are giving socialists a bad name. :p

The obvious solution - more guns to protect civilians ?? Bigger guns too ??
Free gun handouts at the grocery store for purchasers of over $50 ??

Hey Pat, noticed change in your views re: gun policy.

Are you serious with this?

Isn't the solution to get rid of guns and remove licensing of guns as if it is for some legitimate use? Just because a gun is licensed doesn't mean they will not be used for the wrong reasons - as was in this case.

Because of a few terrorists you really want everyone to arm them selves with guns? Terrorists will simply switch to bombs agains and everyone will scratch their heads on why they carry guns?

Let's recap.
This explains the new normal reasonably well....

and now

Well I knew you would digress and say something extraneous to try and divert the conversation. Let us readdress the prior statements.

It was not apples to oranges. The crime rates were adjusted to population size. 1.1 per 100,000 is same if the city has a population of 80,000 or 8,000,000. The borough of Westminster has 3 times the population of Newport Beach with greater than 3 times the crime. I also chose London because it has the most expensive real estate in the UK. Places with expensive real estate tend to have less crime than places that have inexpensive real estate. That is usually due to the fact their is more affluence, and; thus, the denizens have a better education.

Here @postman cites the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics through Wikipedia instead of going the website itself. That must have been too much effort to go and do some real research, if one could even call it that. Then @counter_violent goes and say that it is ridiculous that I believe information from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, when I wasn't the one citing it.

useless digression

The latest business start-ups in the USA consist of people being hired, yes hired out, to lonely people for a cuddle !
Going all the way is extra I expect.

A lot of Americans are worried by the San Bernadino attacks. The problem is how to make America safe. Europe's solution to the problem is to let in more migrants.
Probably this idea won't be copied. The woman terrorist was allowed in recently on a false address.
The weapons may have been purchased locally.

[Ridiculous response]
[Coupled with another useless digression]
[Ran out of decent arguments, so here another pointless digression]

Hmmm. Attacks that are not nearly as frequent 1/37 people are involved in a violent crime per year in London.

You are partially right about Europe. It seems that northern European countries have a good handle on things (Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway). If I was going to travel to Europe, it would mostly likely be to a safer country like the aforementioned ones. I will know at least that the probability of being involved in a violent crime there is 12 times less likely and even less so in Norway. I also like the weather there.

335 fatal shootings so far this year. Cowboy will try and pass this off as irrelevant but I think it is only the violent tip of the iceberg. The US has severe problems and not doing much to solve this problem.

My solution is to have specially trained members of the public licenced to carry concealed weapons. If there had been but 5 at that Paris theatre then the loss of life would have been a lot less. The terrorists are then likely to switch their useless attacks to softer targets with soppy politicians.

Before anything is to be spun, let's see your sources. Do you have one from somewhere other Wikipedia?
