Which port is Newport named after ?
I suspect there is a lot of head scratching going on right now...

If you mean racist ignoranuses then I'm with you Pat, but not all Americans.
Let's not allow one crack head to cloud our judgement. Some people are simply full of them selves all the way from their crevices up to space between their ears.

Its a slow day on the markets, and badger baiting is illegal. It appears however that yank baiting is still alive and well.

@counter_violent. How interesting.
Civilians Shot and Killed by Police in the UK
Murders color coated
It looks like London is quite dangerous.
You muppet thats a list of all murders in the last 3 years.
For the whole of the UK there were 117 people killed in those three years (Average 39 per year) out of a population of 65,000,000.
Or to put it another way.
https://www.national-lottery.co.uk/life-changing/winner-twenty-years
There have been 4,000 lottery winners of over £1,000,000 in the last 30 years. (Average 133 per year).
So you are 3 times more likely to win the lottery than of being murdered in the UK.
Your arguments are a joke.
I'm laughing at you, not with you.
Your math is rather bad. If 133 win per year. That is 133/65,000,000 (0.204 per 100,000). The murder rate is 1.1 per 100,000. There were 113 homicides just in London.

How silly of me to quote you the actual figures YOU were using from this website.
http://www.citizensreportuk.org/reports/murders-fatal-violence-uk.html
You've now gone and changed your source for figures to another website.
Yes your right my maths is bad there were 4,000 lottery winners in the last 20 (not 30) years so thats 200 per year.
Anyhoo we seem to be comparing apples with oranges.
By your own figures blighty has an annual murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000
By the FBI's figures the US has a murder rate of 4.4 per 100,000 4 times as many.
https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2014/crime-in-the-u.s.-2014/tables/table-16
As you picked on London (a major city) the rate for a major US city is 5.2 per 100,000.
You really are NOT going to win the murder argument with a country that has more guns than people!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_guns_per_capita_by_country
Even Americans want to kill Americans. I suggest you try another tack.
How do you like them apples.

Look its really simple, this is the USA forum.
Stop showing stats for Europe without showing related stats for the USA. The USA is a nation that wants to be the best at everything, and sure enough where crimes of all kinds are concerned you are by far the best country in the world.
This is a staggering fact if you stop and take the time to mentally digest it.
"In October 2013, the incarceration rate of the United States of America was the highest in the world, at 716 per 100,000 of the national population. While the United States represents about 4.4 percent of the world's population, it houses around 22 percent of the world's prisoners."
There is something fundamentally wrong in the USA and instead of trying to address the problem, the capitalist try to make money from it with private for profit prisons. There is no incentive to rehabilitate criminals when you make more money if they re-offend.
"Corrections (which includes prisons, jails, probation, and parole) cost around $74 billion in 2007 according to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics."
