FTSE 100 Intraday trading - MAY

looking for longs while price above rising 34 and 100 ema's and rising trend under this morning's action on the 1 and 3 min charts.

Failed to make new higher high. Watching for trend break to go short. Still flat.

slightly off topic but I do trade some of the 100 stocks as well
what do you reckon ?
is this a buy or a sell ?

Cheers Bonsai.

I reckon this will go flat for next 30 mins until big boys get out of 11am meetings then we shoud see a bit of action. Which way???

Then all stop at 12.30 for the obligatory wait for the US to open!!

+ Volume dropping

jonny
thx
but I have just changed the fib
have another look
does that make a difference ?

barney
lol
I only position trade these stocks so my time frame is a bit longer than 30 mins

After an appaling run relative to the banking sector, it now has positive sector strength as well positive strength against the FTSE100 (UKX2). I would hold above the corrected trend, and so long as both relative strengths (sector and market) are positive.

BTW Bonsai - just noticed your address. Give my regards to Sid and Bill, and best of luck at the blood donors! :D

Roger
its all right for you technocrats but holding one arm out of this
window while holding the satellite dish and typing on the keyboard at the same time is getting a bit of a strain ?

thx for you views
here are some more from another place

Bonsai:
Shares in Abbey National, which have soared in recent days, could be pressured in early deals by news of a downgrade from ABN Amro
Typical analyst bullshit.

bonzai
looks like a buy(big volume with move), but stiff resistance at 530, previous support and resistance levels, and mov 200 at 528.

bonsai
I think it's a sell. Looks like it was on the way down from 500 but moved back up with the FTSE...so if you think if you think the FTSE will go higher wait a bit before selling

this is what makes the world go round don't you think ?
and the markets up and down

Now I am more undecided than before !
lol

serves me right !

this is always an interesting chart
anyone else chart it ?

Bonsai - How do you plot this one? presumably from a datafeed into a spreadsheet? What data source? A similar approach ought to be good for the dow futures as well.

Roger
nothing as sophisticated as that I'm afraid.
just a cheap TV card that gives me teletext as well.
thats why its a 15 min update.
Dow futures ?
you dont have winners and losers on futures ?
On the Dow cash I follow trin

I have to agree with Roger. It suffered horribly before the war and as financial stocks seem to bounce back from these situations most immediately, it has the most to gain? I don't want to say I did or didn't do anything because of the war - In case anyone reading this was personally affected by it. But all world events since Sept. 11 2001,then the Axis of Evil speech put the slant on things as far as I was concerned. Things still seem to be Bullish at the moment - There was an interesting article about the small-cap rally on CBS Marketwatch recently. But as the war recedes,we're back into uncharted territory again! So as long as you use stop losses and don't go in too heavy - worth a punt?

Bonsai - thanks for info. For the Dow I was thinking about individual winners/losers amongst the Dow30 stocks to give some leading indication. But only useful if in r/t.
