Dow 2007

if you go down to the woods today .....

S&P 500 REACHES 10% CORRECTION... All global stock markets are under heavy selling again today. The S&P 500 has finally reached the first 10% correction since the bull market began more than four years ago. It's not too far for S&P to test its March low. The big test now will be whether or not the S&P is able to stay above its March low.

there's potential support at 12600, todays bouncer, but if that fails, i can't see anything between here and 12050, maybe 12500 but if 12600 bursts I don't think 12500 will be strong enough to hold up ?

role on the recession  I can tell you now that we're gonna have a massive recession because i'm just about to buy my first house....

I'm depressed. GBPJPY down 1000 pips - Dow down 400 pips. Any more of this and I will be crying like the board at LTCM.

i thought you were going to buy in LOS ?

Yeah i'm still buying a place in thailand, but i still need a house in the uk. At the moment i'm pissing 700quid rent up the wall every month on an aparment that's the size of a cereal box.

As for luker...

A new book that i ordered came. First few pages is about the chap who is writing it and i came across this...

"Don't Blame The Guy Behind The Curtain - You Chose This Job

There is another important trait of beginner traders that they should recognize in order to get rid of it. This is that the traders feel that trading is a fight. Every day is a battle. Every trade is a battle. Every morning they go to war. If this is a war, then there should be an enemy. The next natural step is that traders define their enemies. A list of the traders foes will most likely be familiar to the reader: market makers, specialists, analysts, short shellers, CNBC commentators, and so on. I often see something like:
"Market makers run the stock down to shake the traders out and buy stock cheap" "Darn short sellers killed the move" and so on.
This mindset creates a powerful and extremely harmful concept of the so called them - some unreachabl, mighty force that manages all the market movements and ruins the traders brilliant plays. This concept satisfies the traders ego while excusing them or responsibility for their own actions. Unfortunately many self proclaimed gurus support this approach. It allows them to place the responsibility for their recommendations that go badly on some of those traditional enemies. They reinforce this wrong way of thinking in their followers, thus signifcantly lessening their chances to learn the game.... "

Think about it...

Kev, great post but Lurker is never going to take responsibility for his own shortcomings. It will always be something or somebody else's fault.....

"Land of Smiles", allegedly 'cos Thais are so "friendly' ha bleedin' ha;
when really they are the most racist, xenophobic, corrupt, back-stabbing bassas you could ever meet (sorry Kev, I know you are Luuk Kreung)...still, I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else :cheesy:

The majority of thai's that i've met have been scheming little sods lol. I remember one time being in this village in the middle of nowhere and they were having local elections. One of the guys running for the position was walking around with a bag of money giving it to people to vote for him :cheesy: No one battered an eye lid at it, and you could see the oppostion stood there with this 'sh*t, why didn't i think of that' look on his face.

You've gotta love it lol....

we've got the big constitutional referendum on Sunday. The military dicktators have offered a very democratic choice:
1) vote for us to continue in power, thereby confirming our democratic mandate, or
2) if we lose, we're going to stay in power anyway if you reject us, but we'll know your name and where you live, so watch out !

Gotta love it !

How nice to live in England!

It would be nice to be able to do so, but i'm not quite at that stage yet lol. Paid cash for my new car, but i don't know if it was the best move, could of done other stuff with the money that would of outweighed the cost of financing, but on the plus side, i don't owe anyone money whatever happens...

them

the them would be the other six guys at your poker table and without them you would not have a game.....you have to always figure out their bluff...in this game your bluff doesnt count

Absolute gem.

Love the lyrics...

(Parody of I'm Goin' Down by Bruce Springsteen)

I get a bear
When I’m clickin’ my mouse
But now I hate to see that ticker comin’ round
I go to check the Dow and Nasdaq baby
They’re dropping points
Like Jenny Craig’s droppin pounds
Well say unemployment’s not on the rise
But Sysco just laid off a thousand guys

It’s going downdown down
Dow Jones is down down down
Nasdaq is down down down
Everything is down down down
Touchdown

I used to have an estate baby
But now my golden years are all in Dow
I remember when the 90’s started
My stocks would split
Every time the sun came out
I used to day trade dabble in margin
My portfolio was lookin’ stout
I used to love that Alan Greenspan
But everytime he speaks
It’s going down down down
The Nasdaq is down down down
Greenspan’s a clown clown clown clown
Down down down
Hey how about that deep down Dow

The Dow is down down down
Nasdaq is down down down
Greenspan’s a clown clown clown
Down down down
Down down down
The market’s down down down down

I used to like Greenspan. Still respect him highly. However, I do recall listening to some analysts verbally criticising his handling of the economy. I've read somewhere that we are now paying for Mr Greenspans excesses?

Not sure what to think.  :D

Was that a short cover squeeze? I went away to make a coffee, came back and it was up 300 points. I've lost pips and pounds this week, but hopefully I can start next week with a shiny new IG account and make some money back.

"Paid cash for my new car"....now Warren Buffet would tell you how much that would have been worth had you compounded it for 25 years ...yes ,that's right ,picture that 1 square mile of island surrounded by sand upon which reclines one of the most beautiful women you could imagine...that could have all been yours ..now imagine I didn't buy the car and you see the guy in the hammock slurping a cold one...that isn't you.

In the interests of creating a laugh for anybody on the wrong side of this market.
