Brexit and the Consequences

Things are hotting up nicely over in France.

Dirty tricks departments have gone into overdrive.

On One side we have the EU machine trying to reclaim money paid out for an aide to Le Pen.

On the other side we have anti corruption police looking into payments made to Fillon's personal aids (his wife and Two kids) I'm sure they were the best qualified for the roles and did an outstanding job.

Politicians will capitalise and you need to be wary that if not for the abdication of King Edward, UK with their black shirts, could well have ended up siding with the Nazis.

UK is aligning her self with Trump clear enough. I'm not sure about Europe doing the same but some factions may gain traction and try the same.

I thought it was news worthy that Trumps UK invite has been kicked down the road until further notice.

So much haste. Out the frying pan and into the fire.

I strongly feel US and UK if she follows, will lose international reputation and appeal, impacting global earning capability for years to come.

Global trends and economic trade have been changing, moving West to East and these moves do not address fundamental issues but will only accelerate that move and change process.

I believe the next Hitler will be a leftist-babbling ostensibly idealistic trading guru.

I agree with you to the extent that fascism, communism and any other system based on any one tryants view of how the world should be based on their expections and objectives are all the same yes.

Carry on as you were

"Call me Dave" stoploss technique?

Seems like old Davey boy not quite the hoody-hugging Democrat he'd like us to believe! (I thought it was only in "Democratic Republics" where they shut down the opposition press )

That's is more than 51.9% of parliament, which was the vote during the Brexit. @Mike

How are the constituencies of MPs drawn up. Are they by county or are they gerrymandered?

I had to google that HH, ive never heard that term before

Im not sure how exactly they are drawn up, i'm guessing in terms of size/constituents so there is a degree of fairness per head...most cities are divided up into multiple constituencies, where as the more rural counties are much larger but less populated.

This petition map has all the information re constituency size and geographical areas.

Yes they are definitely gerrymandered to some degree, but as Mike suggests, they are based on populous. Each area very roughly 100,000 eligible voters.

498 votes to 114 against....You can check here how your local MP voted......http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-38833883

I stand shoulder to shoulder with my well informed mate Kenneth Clarke.

My MP did vote for the bill by the way. And... I certainly didn't vote for him.

I thought Kenneth's Alice in Wonderland mad hatter party reference was very apt. Let the party continue for now but heads will roll sooner or later.

Sad day yesterday :(

Certainly was for Corbyn and the Labour Party (n)

They were for the bill and thus Labour and Corbyn got what they wanted. Why would they be sad?

I reckon he wants the prospects for UK to sink so he can get in. With all his past votes he wants to take the country to some very bad places.

It was a sad day for the country and her citizens imo. Time will show.

It just shows Corbyn as a totally ineffective leader and highlights the indiscipline and lack of coherence within his party – rather ironical seeing as that's what they used to accuse the Tories of suffering (even if it was true!).

The bigger picture here is that currently there is no decent opposition to the government and that's not good for democracy. We just have a rabble of Labour/Lib Dems/Scots Nats, potentially UKIP and that wondrous off-her-trolley lady called Caroline from the Greens.

I also see that the Conservatives are dusting down and bringing forward their potential candidates procedures: are we going to see an election sooner rather than later?

Come on Mr doom and gloom, pukker up ....the possibilities are endless now,

I was thinking of jacking it in and sailing West to NY but now that route is closed off and Titanic has started taking on water enroute to NA, feeling a little vulnerable. :(

I'll have to set sail towards the East, see how my Mongol brothers are doing? ;)
