UK Politics

Migration Watch UK is an independent and non-political think tank whose President is Lord Green of Deddington, a former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The Chairman is Mr Alp Mehmet, MVO, a former Ambassador to Iceland. We have a distinguished Advisory Council from professions as diverse as business, academia, medicine, law, politics and journalism. To read more about our Advisory Council see here.

We believe that sustainable levels of properly managed immigration are of distinct benefit to our society. Many migrants make a valuable contribution to our society in terms of both their skills and experience. Britain also has a long history of welcoming genuine refugees which must continue.

However, the present level of immigration is neither sustainable nor well managed. Since 2001 migrants and their subsequent children have added one million to our population every three years. In 2018 net migration was over 250,000. If it continues at recent levels the latest official (ONS) statistics project that the UK population will increase by nearly 400,000 per year - the equivalent of a new city the size of Cardiff.

This is why we campaign for significant reductions in immigration, in line with the wishes consistently expressed by three quarters of the public. In support of this campaign we monitor developments, conduct research, and provide the public with full and accurate facts placed in their proper context. We also make recommendations for policy

You can find out more about this issue in What is the problem, and What can be done. Key statistics can be found here.

Unlike most organisations in this field, we receive no funds from the government in any form and have no intention of seeking any. If you would like to support our independent work on an issue that is vital to our country’s future please see What can you do.

I'm all in favour of PR c_v which is one of the reasons why I voted for Reform UK last Thursday. But I wager that you're not. Not really. Why? Because, as the excellent graphic in your link highlights, under PR, Nigel Farage and Reform UK would end up with 94 seats. And we can't have that now can we. Best stick to the current first past the post system, as it keeps nasty 'Putin apologists' and so-called 'racists' like Farage from gaining any sort of a foothold.

Fury at Labour plan to 'build on fields' by watering down Green Belt rules and stopping locals objecting to onshore wind farms - after Chancellor Rachel Reeves uses first big speech to vow overhaul of 'timid' planning system

Some might say Joy.

This is what we need to do. Green belt is not as important as growth or peoples housing needs.

VERY class act to get economic growth. Nothing quite works as well as a house building boom. (y)

The only reason for pointing it out was simply to highlight that all votes are not equal. Lib Dems did and said nothing all through the campaign, yet ended up with 77 seats. Ed Davey must be laughing his cock off at the insanity that just played out. Lab with a record number of seats with 3% lower number of votes than the unelectable JC got in 2019. The SNP must also be fuming, not that I care about them. Down 38 to finish on 10 seats .

I see your boy is back to bombing civilians and hospitals again. You must be so proud of him.

. . . And your boy is desperately clinging on to power in spite of the fact that he clearly has no idea what day of the week it is or what country he's nominally the President of. You must be so proud of him.

Tories have been ruling with only one third of the vote them selves. I think they only got about 35% of the vote in previous elections.

The Reform Five arrives: Nigel Farage FINALLY enters Parliament with his allies and warns he is coming for Labour's votes - as Tory right-wingers urge closer ties to save party

Hey ! We voted on the same ticket ! (weeelll, its always a f'n compromise) Maybe we should do the big bromance thing......on second thoughts ....... F-THAT !

Interesting video about some of the challenges faced by the UK.

I can also add that since 2010, Local Authority budgets have been cut under tories austerity program which seems to have continued for over a decade. So the issues in this video are National and Local which ever way one looks at it.

One last point, to blame all this on migration is trivilising it to say the least.

This is a super video to watch about the UK's economy and challenges we are facing.

Really is on the nail. Bit of a 45min watch but you'll be wiser to UK's predicament by the end.

  • A civilized society protects the wellfare of the civilized and deals (objectively) ruthlessly with the uncivilized.

  • An uncivilized society protects the interests of the uncivilized and is too depraved to protect the welfare of the civilized and too spineless to mandate the death sentence.
