Trump Presidency and the Consequences

Who care what China thinks? They are not doing anything for us anyway, re N Korea.

Peter

Slapping on big trade tariffs might get their attention ?
NK makes a lot of its foreign exchange from Chinese tourists. Thy could be warned off.
Let's hope the US is more successful with NK regime change than they were with Fidel and Cuba.

One can only hope the US reverts back to what it does best - Hollywood and farming.

Er drip drip drip. What did the President know ? Collusion with the Russians ?
Donald Jr admitting conversations, Kuschner also in conversations with the Russians.
They must be having a good laugh !
Just goes to show amateurs should keep out of politics or employ people who know the ropes.

You mean like James Comey or Loretta Lynch? Both have done much worse and Comey admitted it.

One of the chief downsides of isolationism, not only here but in Europe

Europe struggles to attract tech talent even as US closes doors

Immigration rules and attitudes toward migrants, plus limited investment in tech startups, are all big hurdles.

By JOANNA PLUCINSKA AND SAIM SAEED

U.S. President Donald Trump’s moves on immigration are bad news for ambitious tech workers. That should be good news for Europe’s talent-hungry digital hubs.

Don’t expect a windfall just yet.

This week, Trump signaled his intention to rescind an immigration rule that allows foreign entrepreneurs to remain in the U.S. while they build new companies. Winning office on the back of an “America first” campaign, the U.S. president repeatedly vowed to cut the number of H-1B visas that permit talented foreigners to join the world’s biggest tech companies in Silicon Valley.

That sets the stage for Amsterdam, Berlin or Paris to become the next global magnet for engineers, coders and entrepreneurs.

Yet Europe is struggling to surmount multiple barriers. It’s considered one of the least-tolerant continents toward migrants as populist movements continue to sway public opinion, said Eugenio Ambrosi, the regional director of the EU, Norway and Switzerland office of the International Organization for Migration. Meanwhile, the Continent’s reputation for tech investment remains weak, and its inability to grow the next European Google or Facebook makes it a less desirable place for ambitious workers, politicians, civil society and the industry agree.

On top of that, EU lawmakers and members of the tech community say the Continent hasn’t embraced a 2009 Blue Card directive, intended to establish an easy-to-use, universal visa program for highly skilled workers. A revamp proposed by the European Commission last year is stuck in interinstitutional infighting . . .

It usually comes down to whether the members are just going to pursue their own selfish interests ( as per UK ) or work together for the greater good of the organisation.
Countries and organisations always have to guard against not being able to change quick enough to meet new circumstances. They can easily become like religious bodies, stuck in the past.

If Trump really wants full employment in the US he should:-
1. Put on high trade tariffs
2. Ban robots and computers.

And live in the 1950s

No just ban lazy socialists, communists and EU bankers.

No just ban lazy socialists, communists and EU bankers.

Try and keep up. You go on and on about Communism and Socialism, The former has practically disappeared except in name and the latter has little support.

Terrorism, North Korea, Climate Change and trade are the bigger issues these days.

who else thought that it was impossible to black ball the office of the united states president?
It's really unbelievable. Nixon was essentially black listed after watergate......they feared him too much to try during his presidency but this guy will make nixon look like Barbara Streisand. Should've just stuck to hotels.

Is he going to deliver on the North Korea problem ?
If he does it will consolidate his premiership considerably.
If in a year or two on he hasn't done anything he will look pretty stupid - a blustering oaf with hollow threats.
Really the window of actually being able to do something significant is getting smaller as NK improves its weapons. A sort of now or never scenario.

No need to declare war as the one of the 1950s never officially ended.
One can but hope the NK people will throw off the yoke of slavery and throw Kim into the garbage bucket.
One wimpish solution available to a business type is to offer NK to buy all their nuclear weapons !

Whether he does anything in a year or two is besides the point. The media is making it look like he supported the white supremacists in Charlottesville. If trump today were to end world hunger, boost the economy and peacefully stabilize the middle east he would still be slandered in the media and the elites would continue to conspire against him.......there are powers in this country that simply do not want him in the office.....anyone with two cells in their brains can see that every time he opens his mouth the media stretches the context of what he says and events start to unravel.....the CEO board that disbanded...FBI raids on Manafort....the jewish organizations screaming emergency....right after the Charlottesville speech. I don't feel bad for the guy but we must recognize that proponents of globalization are influencing hearts and minds.

Now that Trump and his administration are doing a fantastic job getting needed help to Texas for the record rain and flooding, all the Trump haters have disappeared. I have not even seen a single Texas democrat politition speak out on the situation, not even to ask for help for their constituents.
