Trump Presidency and the Consequences

what happens to those who can't afford it? suffer until they die? I'm not in favor of lifetime caps on medicare.

Other than the base standard quota yes.

Wishful thinking I believe.

Not wishful thinking at all. Only right that there is accountability on how one lives life. If you do something wrong you get punished by possibly fine or imprisonment.

If you know excessive smoking and drinking raises risks of cancer or kidney issues and it is wrong then you alone should face consquences.

Otherwise beyond base standard quota coverage - it's pay as you go.

Simples :)

And if you don't use the NHS much during your lifetime you should get a discount off your IHT and probate and all the other taxes they even screw you for even after you're dead.........

I am anti-Trump, but democracy has decided and let's just get on with it, make the best of it and show some grace in defeat -especially those of us who aren't even American !

Smoking causes cancer even if a cigarette has never passed one's lips. So does air pollution. So do many other things which are outside the realm of choice.

There are other ways of bringing down costs besides letting the poor, the disabled, and the elderly die.

Another way of financing services is to increase tax.
Perhaps Trump could start paying some?

Agreed. Atilla's suggestion would never pass here in the US. Not ever.

Yes it can happen but more so in the old days when public smoking was allowed.

Passive smoking is now much reduced.

This is why there should be a standard policy with a set lifetime quota to cover set number of basic life's injuries such as for example, broken bones, hernias or skin cancers etc.

Then the many individuals who have various ailments or go beyond a certain level of use should pay more.

It achieves the best of both worlds and is adjustable.

Trying to cover all possibilities for all people makes a hotch potch mess of it all.

Keep it simple. Cast your net over as many as possible and allow for options for the non-standards or over users.

Says the chap who advocates a drugs free for all. Quite a paradox you have going on there

FWIW, you should all direct your attention to fossil fuel pollution, particularly aircraft and vehicle emissions. I suspect that there is very little meaningful research being done in this area, because governments simply don't want to address the problem. Dealing with these types of issues would be economic suicide, unless the whole world joined in.

IOW, let them die. That's simple.

Other peoples lives are not my responsibility. Some people have 6 kids, then demand housing as right from Government as well as health care and benefits.

Not my idea of someone who's in need. Social security was suppose to be a temporary care for those in need. Not a way of life.

If you can't support your own offspring then don't produce any. Yes humans can breed like vermin too. Not like the old days where having more kids meant more labourers to work the land. That's old school.

Need to enforce personal responsibility. If people want to have kids make sure they can afford them and do a good job raising them.

I do have a social conscience but some peeps take the liberties just because it is there for the taking.

Just as we need to fix capitalism for its greed we need to put accountability and personal responsibility into socialism. (y)

Back in the 80s a study found NHS could supply the whole of UK's heroine drug addiction bill for £50m. It is the secondary crime and cost of criminal, police and court time that kills people off coupled with prostitution and the rest.

Health and drug crime are two different issues.

Will the Democrats save Donald Trump?

After last week’s collapse of the GOP effort to scrap Obamacare — fueled partly by resistance from conservative House hard-liners — Trump and his allies have hinted that outreach to Democrats may soon be on the way.

But Trump’s polarizing agenda and early stumbles have stiffened the resolve of moderate Democrats once spooked by his success in their districts. Though most say they’re willing to work with Trump if he’s sincere about seeking common ground, they’re also not rushing to his side. And his recent overtures toward bipartisanship, they say, are falling flat.

“I mean will they attract one or two Democrats on whatever piece of garbage they want to offer? Maybe,” said Rep. Jim Himes, chairman of the centrist New Democrat Coalition.

But early talk from the White House about corralling a few Democratic votes has to stop, the Connecticut Democrat added. “If they really want to get something done…they better leave the ‘picking off’ language behind and start talking about what we would need.”
