Some Fed Toughts This Morning

Good Morning all

I now fully understand exactly what the FED is going to do in the future. First I doubt they will even change that statement in the weeks and months ahead. Actually why should they since it gives them much leeway to do what ever they think is necessary without committing to either side of the equation. I like this a lot actually since the proper way to decide about the country's interest rates has really nothing to do with "targets" of Fed Funds but in fact it has to be based on current and future economic health of this expansion. So when the June meeting comes along all they have to do is just stop raising rates keeping the exact same statement without saying "pause" or neutral". In fact everyone the FED is right here and now at "Neutral". They will digest the reports, adjust the inflation information, adjust the housing news, ect and then either raise or stop as the case dictates and this is a very good thing for the markets to move a lot higher over time. In fact while I think the DJIA is about to correct shortly I do think the tech sector is way oversold here and needs to play catch up post Fed. There well could be a nice grind up surprise summer rally since I do not see any slowing of the Global expansion at this point and what with China and India going full speed ahead growing their own gigantic economies it simply means that it will drive profits and revenues for our companies to new improved heights. Before we follow that traditional "Sell in May and go Away" scenario, I'm suggesting that is not going to happen this time. We will now be held hostage on every single economic report on a day to day basis. The volatility will be a rollercoaster effect!

Another day another pay day . My thanks to technical analysis and dynamic postion sizing . My target for today is $1780.. Lets see if there are enough opportunities there which justifies the risk to get to the target .

Hi

first of all Many thnx to Grey1 and Jerry for all the time and effort they're contributing to this thread. i'm a former-fx trader trying to learn trading Nasdaq. i've read this thread and most of technical trader forum, moderated by grey, which was very helpful for me, i might double the thnx for that.

i'm interested in VWAP and it's unique characteristic of having no arbitrary parameter! but i wonder are the bands differ on different TimeFrames? i think MPD is TimeFrame dependent, tho bands could be different on different TFs?(timeframes). also i guess MPD(if it's a statistical measure like STD), might have parameters to set, like bollinger bands?
if bands are different on different TFs, could i ask on which TF u choose to initiate the trade? because u go short(if other criteria are met) when price reaches the upper band and vice versa for long. i mean if the bands are different on different TFs u might get different entries too

as i looked into grey1's screenshot of his numerous radars, i can understand Multi Time Frame Analysis, and that he's looking @ M1, M3, M5,and M10. i guess if 3 of these TFs say sell on the same instrument, u go short right?

another question: Multi TF analysis, could give a signal, and VWAP bands are different tool. are u using this two along together? i mean using them as parallel tools may filter bad signals of both, or say fine tune the entry. when both conditions(Multi TF+VWAP Bands) are present, u initiate the trade. am i right on this or i'm missing something?

Thnx in advance for any replies

Kako

Ps. forgive my ignorance, but could some1 kinldy explain what's the difference between sell and short?!
in grey1's screenshot, these are seperated signals from each other, so i guess there should be something i don't know. in fx there's only buy(long) or sell(short).

I am glad you have found it useful

i'm interested in VWAP and it's unique characteristic of having no arbitrary parameter! but i wonder are the bands differ on different TimeFrames? i think MPD is TimeFrame dependent, tho bands could be different on different TFs?(timeframes). also i guess MPD(if it's a statistical measure like STD), might have parameters to set, like bollinger bands?

The most important concept that you have to understand is that VWAP bands are RISK band and not trading bands such as Bollinger band. You can only and I insist ONLY use them as trading band when you are arbitrage trading . VWAP band are only near enough to High and low of the day so they must not be used as a trading bands. If this was the case you would go short @ high of the day and visa versa. We use VWAP band as a measure of risk involved .

as i looked into grey1's screenshot of his numerous radars, i can understand Multi Time Frame Analysis, and that he's looking @ M1, M3, M5,and M10. i guess if 3 of these TFs say sell on the same instrument, u go short right?

Correct

another question: Multi TF analysis, could give a signal, and VWAP bands are different tool. are u using this two along together? i mean using them as parallel tools may filter bad signals of both, or say fine tune the entry. when both conditions(Multi TF+VWAP Bands) are present, u initiate the trade. am i right on this or i'm missing something?

Correct . the risk bands are used in adjusting the risk levels so you can adjust your position size accordingly . And yes when you get three different time frames confirming ,,you have the CASH REGISTER SINGING . we use both VWAP bands and MLT to gether.

Finally , A sell signal is the short signal on the first bar and not an EXIT LONG SIGNAL ( called sell too ) . This is a program trade convention .

AM I clear ?

PS:-- my fellow country man , any problem phone me and we take it from there. Grey1 love to see traders kick a** in the market and not get toasted .

Yesterdays Opening Sentence

Today at 2:15 pm est. we are going to get "THE" statement of the last 2 years from the FOMC. The real problem that I see is the markets are leaning toward a "pause" in that statement. I warn all of US that if they do not move to neutral right here at this meeting we are in for a sharp fast violent correction for at least 3-4 days

Everyone Needs To Be Prepared For The Worst

DJIA index have moved the chart right to my upside target at 11,650. Not saying we can't go a lot higher but we are steeply overbought and need a breather

another part of my morning update...

Buy The Dip This Morning Scalp Only

Good Morning everyone

Nothing ever goes straight up or down in these markets. About a week or so ago I mentioned that Barrons 12,000 article in their newspaper for the DOW if you all remember my mentioning it. I never liked magazine covers like Business week or any other periodical with front covers notating bullish or bearish scenarios and targets. Like I said in that newsletter it wiped the smile off my face right then and there. While commodities are going "parabolic" and you can just name what ever that metal is right now. Heck I even think ZINC is at all time highs, this makes me think of the very same set up as the stock market was experiencing in 2000. Crude oil is trading at these levels folks on false manipulation and news noise. This commodity is about 15-20 bucks over priced right here and now. NOW that we are trying to get serious about alternative fuels, crude prices are a major accident waiting to happen. I have said this for months now it's going down big time soon. It never ceases to amaze me how traders around the world become wild maniacs trying to "chase" the new improved and latest fad currently invading the markets right now. I would suggest that you do not get caught up in all this mania as it has nowhere to go but down. While we have all this froth in the metals and crude, speculators are going to get badly damaged when this all stops and reverses. While this irrational exuberance is going on the Fed is raising rates and slowing the whole engine down making the future economic picture a bit hazy until they stop once and for all. Did you ever get the feeling they are going to overshoot this tightening cycle again with this nonsensical fear of rising inflation for the general public. In point of fact folks a little inflation is good for the economy, especially at the current rates we are seeing right now. By hurting the housing market they will hurt all of America that's for sure. Housing has lead us out of darkness over the last 3 years and if they slow this sector anymore than they already have, it will have disastrous results for the whole market. Of course my glass is always half full, I can see the consumer is still out and about despite high fuel prices and slightly higher mortgage rates. We are all doing quite well if you ask me. Let's hope this ballistic unrealististic manipulated insane rally in commodities cools off soon so we can get back to more normal atmosphere of trading and making a living like the old days. I said 2 days ago if the FED disappoints we are going to get a hard fast violent correction for a few days till the markets digest the "news". We shall resume this rally very soon. Let's see where solid support comes in nearer the 200 period moving averages on the main charts.

Have a nice weekend all

FOMC REPORT "DATA DEPENDENT"

In all my years trading the markets i have never seen the words "data dependent" used in any FOMC language before..

This means simply they will not change their staements any longer and either raise rates or not raise rates at each meeting keeping the stock markets on edge.

We will not know when they stop unless they actually do stop!
