Bank Holiday

Specifically, the "late May Bank Holiday", formerly Whitsun (Well, Whit Monday actually) moved and renamed several decades ago). Originally a religious holiday (Pentecost), I believe continental European countries tend to still celebrate it on the original date, which I think is 50 days after Easter, and hence varies each year.


There will not now be another British BH until the last Monday in August.
