Pete, your guess was correct.
Sharky has done some digging around and the profile location is what comes up when you mouse-over the flag and the flag is the physical location the member currently (as per ISP location) is working out of [or where the proxy they are using is located...]
I've been won over. I like the current implementaiton now.
