Anyone scalping the FTSE Futures??

No wonder the Dow is advancing steadily the last 150 years

They get rid of the losers who become extinct and add new blood every so and then...

because dow is price weighted lower priced stocks have little effect on dow and stocks like IBM have huge effect.

think a $1 move in any stock moves the dow about 6pts

plus today is 9/11 anniversary

All bullish out there

I got long before the open in the Dow and still holding
Waiting for the proper spike up in the Dax, probably around 8510-15 , to hedge it.
My opinion the Dow has more legs to go than the Dax at these levels.

Well done on the Long - your probably right about the dow - it just takes cojones to hold on to it.

The Dow is boosted by the addition of Goldman, Nike etc. it got new blood :)

On a practical level, index trackers buy stocks in the index (kinda makes sense), but this has the effect of pushing up the value of a stock Before it enters the index. Once its in - the price drops, like buy the rumor sell the news. This has a negative effect on the index as the stock is now counted and is falling in value.
Goldman has had a 10% increase since the beginning of September, maybe its due a re adjustment to fair value?

Then with the addition of Goldman, Visa and Nike this could easily go to 15600 in e next days. Just look at the daily chart ....

Bet next year, the next to be kicked out will be Intel and Cisco

so has the s&p been changed as well? charts look like dow is lagging...yellow line

Here's to 'the great unwashed'.

Dax and FTSE after market are setting themselves up for a pop (up) in the dow. Hold on to your hats.

Dow will not stop going up until the last short is killed or at least suffers severe pain

couple of blinks of the eye wasn't the dax at 8176 ?

for shorters this is the telephone number for the samaritans

Might test the high's in Asia again today before selling.

RBNZ rate call today.

And Aussie unemployment the big market mover, never bad, someone in China works out the numbers.

Nikkei futures didn't follow the Dow during the day.

Probably they keep some of the move for the Japan session.
