Swing trading with heiken ashi and stochs

Swing trading with heiken ashi and stochs @ Forex Factory

You have to make up your own mind as to whether approaches here suit your trading personality or offer the opportunity for profit. If it makes you think more about trading then all well and good. For example; Demo any approach you come across and see how you fare in the profit and loss arena of the trading world. Good luck:)

Read the PDF on post 1640 (Hugh Briss) -sets out the approach in more detail:)

It seems like he's not using that system at the moment. He used it for less than a year after 'years worth of trial and error, blood, sweat and tears' as he put it in PDF?

BTW He's a commercial member(vendor) now :whistling

Hi Neil,

my 2 cents...

The method is sound - trend following. Dinos got me looking at HA candles and they've grown on me. As always some common sense is wise such as avoiding mechanical methods just before NFP or other major news events.

One more thing. I'll be a contrarian here but we all evolve as traders. If the author found this method profitable but then some time later he found an even better method that doesn't necessarily invalidate the first method. The trader has just moved on to better methods. I don't know if that's the case here or not although I'd be less sceptical if the pdf author wasn't a vendor. I just wanted to point that out.

Peter

Thanks for posting the link Neil - there were few useful things there (after all he was not a commercial member when he started the thread)

Pete mentioned Dino's system (using Heiken ashi) - if I'm not mistaken Dino's approach is short term with limited targets and more suitable at the moment. FF guy's approach is more towards trending markets and that may be the reason why he stopped using it. I've looked into it and as Pete said, it's a sound approach and I wouldn't dismiss it. The guy is a prolific author with few other systems - the newest being a trend following EOD system where one follows the trend and keeps adding till the end. Of course with these kind of systems one needs to survive lots of failed trades in order to go for a home run trade that would pay for all the losses and make extra profit. That may be the reason for him turning commercial - not having a big enough account?

I agree with Pete about us evolving as traders and that's one of the reasons I was doing this research. I like some of the guy's ideas and I wouldn't say I wasted my time:)

Agreed -all good points discussed above.
Try reading this guys posts -he tends to go for ten pips a time- I trade a variation of this among other approaches.
