Brexit and the Consequences

Now, imagine those same employees, off to sunny Spain, lying on a beach mostly naked, plastering themselves with factor olive oil........

"Imagine" I don't see how imagining things will help reality?
If it helps you to see more clearly I can tell you about your holiday imaginations if you like.
The chap with the worst cancer who has had his face carved up by doctors is an old boy who doesn't have a passport. But has spent many years working in green spaces for the local council. He has never been on holiday abroad before.
His only experience of aboard was when he was a young man in the forces.

I'm not quite sure of the relevants of all this.
I'm not sure how this relates to the drip feed of false information over many years??
If you would like I could go into more details on the the other people with skin cancer.
Please do not forget that when you are on holiday you can take shelter under a sun umbrella or go for a drink in a bar to get out of the midday sun.
But when you are at work, there is no shelter in the middle of a cricket square and if you seek it you are likely to be sacked.
I hope this has helped your imaginings?

Good on them, common sense prevails, you should congratulate the management for being pro-active in their thinking and taking steps to look after it's employees, as they should!

Slightly confused it feels like you are arguing with me but you seem to be agreeing with me??

Yes if it wasn't for the EU then there would have been no sun screen and hats provided.

And yes there has been years of anti EU propaganda from newspaper wealthy imployers who don't want greater protection for their work force.

No I'm not sure of the relevance either! Looks like you are trying to turn this into an issue about people with skin cancer.

We have gone from EU regs to ranting about the workplace and the health effects on employees, in particular skin cancer - why? Are you suggesting that the EU regs are going to stop people from getting skin cancer?

By way of example why isn't smoking banned? Could an EU regulation stop lung cancer by banning smoking from anywhere on business premises (rather than having a designated smoking zone)? Or would people still get lung cancer from other sources (smoking at home, passive smoking etc), regardless of the regulations?

And what has any of this to do with the MSM and voting leave?

I am agreeing with you. And you are probably correct that employers in the UK probably would not have introduced sun hats and sunscreen (did employees use this protection anyway?)

I don't disagree about MSM either, they are all crooks.

Ah, it’s the picking and choosing dream that’s turned out to be shattered in the cold light of day

So far as TM’s deal is concerned it’s worse than being in and only half way to being out but a necessary compromise if we want to have a favourable relationship with EU (more than just trade involved in that). The no deal alternative would be like jumping into a stormy sea without a life jacket and there’s not many who would go down that route voluntarily although we’d survive if pushed.

Are we left with Hobson's choice? Crap deal or no deal? It seems certain that parliament will vote it down, will the EU be approached again for a new deal, or would that be a waste of time?

Well, if nothing else, the EU hierarchy are past masters at devising a form of words that can mean all things to all men so I guess they could stitch a few tucks in the coat without actually altering it at all :)

anyone think that the eurozone nudged spain into raising the gibraltar issue again ?

a little too stage managed for me ...........although they are allowed a little room to play up given the pantomime they are seeing from the uk camp

All politicians are alike and the Spanish are no different from anyone elses. My guess is that Susana Diaz dId the nudging. Andalucia has elections any day, now, and borders Gib. Gib gives them a lot of work and commerce. She is of the same party as the central government, ie PSOE socialist. Personally, I thought that Brussels and London were thinking that they could bypass Spain on Gibraltar. Whether the agreement is any good, or not, has to be put to the test. TM and the other Spanish parties all say no, while Pedro reckons its the greatest thing sliced bread.

Of all the wars that have been fought and the huge loss of life to gain independence and sovereignty yet we’re worried about a small drop in GDP..

What does that mean to the layman? :whistling

Just like it reads really, Would a small loss in gdp for our sovereignty back not be a fair deal ? Especially if the drop is only a prediction by what sounds like the project fear mongers again.

I feel amazingly free now. I see Brexit as curtailing my freedoms.

What on earth will you be able to do after Brexit that you can't do now?

We have elections and choose our leaders now so plllleeaaaseee don't give me that dribble about electing our useless Eurossceptic leaders like Boris, Govey, Mogey and the other riff raff who are no where to be seen.

I believe all that trash when Nigel Lawson changes his domiciled residence to the UK if sovereignty and parliament is so important to him. You just regurgitating tosh which has no meaning if I may put it crudely, do forgive me.:eek::eek:

Bunch of crooks who want to turn UK into a niche tax haven so they can get away with paying less tax.

Wake up my friends. You lot up North facing a very grim future indeed. :(

Reading a book The Construction of Social Reality by John R. Searle.

Strongly recommended which questions how we construct reality.

You can read the introduction here... https://books.google.co.uk/books?id...frontcover&source=gbs_atb#v=onepage&q&f=false

You dear SC would be an interesting specimen to examine under the microscope. (y)

Well I am honoured, to think that for all my influence about social reality, that there are theories still unanswered. John R Searle is a like minded thinker/philosopher, I salute him for attempting to understand how the common man operates within a social reality that exists within a physical reality. A construct he cannot quite fathom, for all his academic efforts, yet the common man grasps the harsh realities of the modern world and can piece them together to form a philosophical point of view that conforms to no-one and yet to everyone.

Good find, keep reading

Here's another good one for starters, the barrier to entry is a bit lower than for Mr.Searle as you only need to be able to understand English to absorb its information (real or not!) :cheesy:

I've listened for about 7 minutes and he indeed raises the same questions that John Searle is attempting to answer.

Both fascinating yes but prefer the book as it seems to be a better constructed medium for my digestion.

Cheers, I'll let you know if come across anything interesting. (y)

Carney or Peterson, which one would you rather listen to?

SC that guy talks a lot but no one challenges him on his dribble.

Can you comment on one thing he says that you think stands up to scrutiny and I'll let you know what I think?

Not impressed. His passing personal judgement over EU as if some kind of expert but his coming from a limited perspective. A very narrow minded academic with a limited set of experience and values is my initial assessment.

He's passing a judgement in relation to hierarchical structures that exist in our societies and yet doesn't exist in the EU, this is one main reason why the EU is failing, 'the EU has grown too fast, there is a hierarchical disconnect between Brussels and it's citizens, therefore the citizens have no connection with the ruling Brussels and don't like the decisions that are taken there [sic]'.

This is how you begin to understand why the EU cannot work in the guise it is at the moment, nothing to do with trade, banking, frictionless borders or even immigration etc, but to do with the philosophical understanding of how society operates at a fundamental level and the decisions people make based on the hierarchical structure of how humans have always operated (within their reality) :D
