Here's something that makes you wonder how transparent China is on the coronavirus... the doctor that tried to sound the alarm back in December was muzzled and put in jail. With such a story, can we be confident that China is telling it as it is? I fully agree with the assessment of JPMorgan's strategist and David Kotok, we haven't seen the end of the effects of the coronavirus and markets are wrong in discounting its effects now.

Currently building a short position in ASX 200....
Reason China trade flows.... Aussies not yet woken up to impacts from China quarantine not least domestic demand in China for Aus resources, tourism impacts to Aus and Uni students etc etc
Potential building into perfect storm coupled with bushfire impacts etc
Also looking at Shorting Aussie dollar later down the line.... RBA has just held rates but mid- year I would be looking at another cut to try and stimulate local demand because of above.

Can we get some perspective on this "Coronavirus" please.
Firstly how does it kill people? It causes inflammation between the lung tissue and arteries in the lungs, this stops oxygen getting to the blood (thats a bad thing).

But hang on a minute how does "the flu" kill people, well It causes inflammation between the lung tissue and arteries in the lungs, this stops oxygen getting to the blood (thats a bad thing).
So this is the equivalent to a bad cold or "the flu" - influenza.

OK how many people have died?
Well the meedya are screaming .... "Coronavirus deaths LEAP"

170 dead wow that's terrible especially if you are one of those 170 people, so perspective again how many people actually live in Hubei where the outbreak started? 1 million ? 2 million? Bueller, Anyone? 58,500,000.

58 million people live in Chinas second biggest city! So thats 0.000,003% (rounding up) of the population.

How many people died in 'merica in 2018 from "the flu"?
Anyone know any of these facts?
80,000 people died in the good old U S of A in 2018 fro the flu.

Anyways, for even more perspective, look up the Spanish Flu of 1918c which killed 20+ million and infected hundreds of millions. Now that was a pandemic.
