No. Call me bonkers but I want 6716 on the ftse for a long and a break through 9288 dax for a short

I managed to fit in some time to read the thread you started.

Some points raised are.
The currency exchange must play a part in here somewhere, a number of companies are traded in London AND the US.
Also, this low volume must play havoc with prices, I would expect the mean to return when there is plenty of liquidity.
Finally there are some SB's who directly allow you to trade this pair 'differential' but its a 1:1 relationship not 1:0.5 - have you used this?
