So with Mr Bushs economic genius in place and the dollar on the slide, where' s best to go on holiday. Assuming that you're not a fan of the US accent that it

Anyone know where I can get a list of countries pegged to the $ ?

Cuba used to be a country where the US Dollar was widely accepted. Until about 1 months ago, when Fidel Castro strictly outlawed the use of the Dollar, in order to ensure that all cash purchases are made in Pesos.
Cubans and tourists wishing to exchange American dollars will now have to pay a 10 per cent commission charge. The exchange charge will not apply to other currencies, including the Canadian dollar.

A friend just got back from 2 weeks in cuba. He said it was 29 celsius every day (in December). Although their holiday resort was quite luxurious, all the other places they went, including Havana, were poverty stricken.

The US dollar is widely and welcomely received in Russia, and Saint Petersburg is really one of the best cities in Europe for a holiday, almost whatever you want out of a holiday (though admittedly the winter weather can leave a little to be desired).

Really don't think the lady will be into the freezing cold that is the Russian winter, however much I've been into going since Wimbledon

Was more thinking only the lines of central / south America and the Carib although not sure how the Cuba idea fits in. The dollar's NOT A WINNER THERE !!!!

How can you find which countries currencies are directly linked to the dollar ? Any ideas ?

They like USD in Malaysia

I only know that as I have a friend who has gone there a number of times and takes USD with him. He usually spends more USD than Malaysian Ringits ( I think that's spelt right  )

Other than that, I don't know how you would find a list of USD friendly countries.

In India they just love $50 bills

When I was last there you could get twice the official exchange rate!!!

It was cheap anyway.

I shouldn't imagine there are that many currencies that are directly linked to the dollar. Some middle eastern countries, possibly Dubai. Saudi Arabia (not a good holiday destination). Philippines maybe.

Why do you want countries linked to the USD?

The entrance to the Souk in Saana, Yemen gives a good exchange for the dollar. The dealers there are really very impressive. Make sure you take close protection team with you as they like to kidnap. Very beautiful country.

Why has this thread come to the top again ?!

That was January and I've been on holiday. It was great knowing that everything was at a reduced rate and enjoyed reminding the yanks about it along the way.
