What platform, data feeds should a beginner use?

I plan to trade in October mainly on fx and indices. Been reading up on TA and doin my research for quite a while now but i just need some advice as to what trading platform and/or data feeds to use?

Should i start in spread betting or should i should i go direct? If direct then who would you advise with?

Ive looked into ProRealTime for real time data and that looks pretty good...unless anyone thinks otherwise.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
