Bcrx

Nice run on BCRX today, up $2 so far - wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Charts wasn't trading this one too :)

Well done Gadgetman, a dream chart if i ever saw one!, nice and gentle just my cup of tea :cheesy: and still going strong

Great guys,

you got'em all again today, Richard. When was the last time you had a losing day.
I'm not trading today. I'm having problems with my trading platform. I'm getting delayed quotes. So can't trade. Too bad. Was a great day.

-Dave.

I must say I've really enjoyed this thread

Just want to thank the regular posters, in fact its made me look closer at trading stocks.

I'm just playing with things at the mo.

YHOO caught my eye for a sell based on EW and what was developing on L2 ( plus a tight 8 cent stop could be used)

I'm sure that there are much better stocks than yahoo but its a sell pattern I like from futures trading

Thanks again

Bez

Level 2 v TotalView

Hi guys
Looking on the money.net site to-nite, I notice they offer 2 Level 2 packages.
Level 2
Totalview.
Is it worth paying the extra for Totalview and what would be the main advantages?
Are there any other specialised Level 2 feeds out there with more bells and whistles than the bog standard packages, that might help with the learning curve for a level 2 wannabe?

hi bez welcome to the thread :)

cheers

Hi Pitbull,

Very interesting posts and charts. Well done.

Any chance you could enlarge on your "3 bar entry" method for those of us unfamiliar with the technique?

I don't know that this is the same method Pitbull uses but a basic 3 bar entry is a technique used on gap plays. I think Alan Farley highlights them often.

Basically, you wait for the first three 5 minute bars to be printed then, use the high and low of this "three-bar range" as support and resistance levels. A buy signal issues when price exceeds the high of the three-bar range . A sell signal issues when price exceeds the low of the three-bar range.

There is another variation using a hybrid of Tony Crable's EE type 1 & EE type 2 entry methods but these are a bit more complex.

Bez :)

The above looks pretty good to me for a few hours trading.

Hi Seguna

The beauty with US stocks. You can get a morning run and earn a days money from minutes to hours.
Or with the evening, it may take you a few trades and a bit longer to get your days money.

I never try to be in the market more than 2 hours at a time, otherwise I might end up giving back my profits. It comes down to restraint.

If and when I do go full time I would only trade the morning or afternoon, and positions open for longer for an all day run, I would put my stop in and leave it till the evening. I think Naz calls this a "Starbucks Trade", :) i.e. go to Starbucks and have a coffee and when you come back, hey presto, still going strong!

Sequna

Nearly forgot.

A classic example yesterday of a Starbucks trade was BCRX and DBRN. Saves you watching up and down bars all day. I used to be guilty of screen watching but just no good on the stress levels.

A stock with a strong story behind it will finish at the extreme high or low of the day as was the case yesterday with the above stocks, except that DBRN started selling off in the last hour, day traders closing their positions.

AS compared with RIMM yesterday, glad I wasn't long in that at 18.30 - a $4.56 drop in 1 minute - based on the court case results I assume. Be a good one to watch today for an adjustment.

Talking of court cases, positive news on IVGN today so might be worth watching - I noticed Richard had a good trade on it yesterday, anticipation perhaps ?:)

I was also watching the IPO on ACTS, anticipated to open around $13 but came in around $8. No volume and not much movement :( .

Not a great day today, but still managed to be profitable.

3 losses and 3 winners:

Losses

ESRX -0.04
SLB -0.20
BOBJ -0.07

Winners:

DECK +0.26
COST +0.22
JOSB +1.45

Total $1.62

Finished for the day now, as getting ready to fly off on Hols to Bratislavia tommorrow. So, have a good couple of days trading and talk next week guys.

My platform works again! A bit of a low volume day. Except for RIMM and GOOG.
My trades so far:
goog +100
goog +50
goog -16
cogn +-0 scratch
sndk +6
sndk +8
smtc -5
rimm -5
rimm -6
rimm +185
rimm +77
wfmi -7
cost -4
cost -8
cost -7
goog +-0 scratch (was up almost a dollar at a certain moment, didn't see it coming.)
rimm +15
rimm +5
Total so far: +388

How did you guys do?

-Dave.

How about use a demo from DirectAccessElite?

Thanks PitBull, just checked it out, the demo looks fine, but to use the platform for actual trading would cost 100 usd a month ,just for L2, not worth considering at this stage in my trading career

Have a good one.

Well today was my worst day ever. I'm too embarassed to list the losing trades :(

I'm off to analyse the trades and figure out what went wrong.
On days like this I wonder if I'm looking at a different list of stocks to you guys! Well done.
