Peacekeeping in Ukraine would require every last drop of our depleted resources. We would have NO capability left, DANIEL HANNAN writes

Sir Keir Starmer's announcement that he plans to send British peacekeepers to Ukraine raises two immediate questions. First, do we have the military capacity and the means to pay for it? Second, what exactly would we aim to achieve?

The answer to the

One misstep away from World War III: Keir Starmer's 'peacekeeping' operation in Ukraine would be fraught with danger and has potential to trigger wider conflict, military experts warn

European leaders spat out their dummies when the US Vice President delivered that brutally honest speech. I just hope Keir Starmer was listening...

What key players want from Ukraine war talks

This could prove a defining week for the war in Ukraine, with two sets of hastily arranged talks taking place in Paris and Riyadh.

European leaders are meeting in France as they scramble for a response to Donald Trump's plan to open negotiations with Vladimir Putin for an end to the conflict.

On Tuesday Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio are due

Heard a Russian speaker being interviewed on Radio 4 last night. He spoke really well and outlined Russia's position clearly. All made total sense.

Basically, this was has always been about NATO enlargement (aggression) call it what you will, European (aka NATO) countries all pariticipated in supplying and aiding this fruitless war of aggression contrary to all warnings. Hence, the offer of hosting NATO soldiers whether it is from UK, US, or other EU nations is clearly not acceptable for Russia. So Starmer's announceent is a non-starter.

I always find when talking about a ceasefire, why no mention of the horse trading over minerals is ever mentioned on National news. I haven't heard the BBC tell us Zelensky has refused to sign agreement over to the USA.

Germany has been shafted well and trully so they are right to be upset. Personally, I'd boot'm up the rear as well. Even when the Norsk gas pipeline is blown up by their very own allies. How STUPID and pathetic any leader be? If you don't react it demonstrates weakness.

On the other station LBC, they were talking about whether the population supports sending troops to Ukraine??? I obviously don't and most people I speak to do NOT, yet the BBC reporting some survey as if they did. Very difficult to know what the truth is. As if our troops don't have enough to do with poor budgets they are now talking about sending troops to Ukraine. However, I suspect those troops more likely to be sent to protect the mineral mines rather than the Ukrainian people. Just that the news is sanitised for mass consumption so it is more palatable for digestion by numpties who are not aware of the underlying objectives of Uncle Sam.

Hi At',
You and I don't support sending troops because we are well informed, don't accept the mainstream media narrative (which we know is a bunch of lies and propaganda) and have a good understanding of what's really happened. The people who allegedly are in favour of sending troops are none of the above. They believe, erroneously, that Zelensky is a saint, that Putin is evil incarnate and that we must defend the sovereignty of Ukraine and its wonderful democracy (cough!) - otherwise the ruskies will swallow up the rest of Europe in next to no time. If they had even half an inkling as to the facts of the situation, hey'd be out on the streets demanding that not only should our troops stay out of Ukraine - but also that funding to Zelensky's corrupt regime stops immediately.
Tim.

This is not directly related to this thread, but it's a wonderful illustration of just how fcuked up Europe and its leaders are. This is the tearful reaction of the Chair of the Munich Security Conference to JD Vance‘s fantastic speech (A must watch if you've not heard/seen it.) This is as pathetic as it is priceless, enjoy! . . .

I see what you mean and yes agree with you 100%.

I reckon Europeans have had their wake up call.

Their best bet is to accept Russia's peace offering and allign with Ukraine and Russia in forming a new alliance imo.

Russia saved Europe from it's self by defeating the Nazi Germans. This whole debacle is comical. Europe could become significant in the World Order as the third power to US and China by aligning with Russia and Ukraine. Instead the bunch of morons running around like headless chickens crying their eyes out at their own folly and lies.

Otherwise anything else, Europe is just going to get kicked around as a non-entity of small minded people. Reminds me of that sketch about Hanns Blinx writing a very nice letter to Kim Jong, telling him how angry and upset they are.

PS. Just had a brain wave. Europe if they do really get pissed off with US and UK they could always apply for membership of BRIC nations. 😎

Furious Zelensky warns he will never accept Putin's 'ultimatums' as he lashes out at US-Russia peace talks held 'behind Ukraine's back' and scraps Saudi Arabia visit

Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine will never give in to Vladimir Putin's 'ultimatums' and has cancelled a visit to Saudi Arabia as he hit out at the United States and Russia for holding talks there 'behind our backs'.

'I wonder why they believe Ukraine would accept all these ultimatums now if we refused them at the most difficult moment,' the Ukrainian President said, referring to Kyiv's refusal to bow to Moscow's demands during crisis talks at the start of the war.

Zelensky pointed out that there were 'no agreements with the Russians during the occupation of Kyiv region,' nor during negotiations in Belarus or Turkey.

Moscow at the time called for a reduction in the number of Ukrainian troops, recognition of occupied Ukrainian territories as part of Russia, and the appointment of a pro-Russian government in Kyiv.

'As President of Ukraine, I have never given any guarantees to anyone or confirmed anything. Moreover, I have never intended to accept Russia's

Zelensky needs to hold elections before he continues to speak for Ukrainian people.

Ukrainian people need to reflect on what Zelensky has said and done and achieved and decide how they wish to proceed.

Ukrainian people need to refer back to Democracy and stop being uncle sam's puppet. They must surely see what has been done in their name.

I also wonder what all those ultra Nazi Brigade of patriots must be thinking now. The blue eyed super race got played by a bunch of red kneck cowboys. Can't make this sh!t up as if it's fiction. This is reality. Shock horror. 😱

Zelensky is IRRELEVANT to Ukraine from now on.

Just hearing on news Trump declared him 4% relevant. That's like death in Chinese terminology.

It's a funny thing, I think, that the new leader of the so called 'free world' is saying most - if not all - of the things that those of us on the right side of the argument have been saying on this thread for three past three years. (This must be very confusing and upsetting for poor ol' c_v! 😛)

The hypocrisy of the west is simply draw dropping. On the one hand, they're queuing up to support Zelensky after Trump labelled him (correctly) a dictator, saying that he's nothing of the sort on the grounds that he's the democratically elected leader of a sovereign nation. (He was, but he ain't anymore.) On the other hand, they didn't think twice about calling Trump a dictator (and worse) after the shenanigans on January 6th 2021. And they fail to mention that all opposition parties in Ukraine are banned - as are news media - to prevent any criticism of Zelensky. My understanding is that it's literally against the law to say or do anything that undermines Zelensky's authority, to the extent that Russians have greater freedom to criticise Putin than Ukrainians have to criticise Zelensky. If that isn't acting like a dictator - then I don't know what is!
