There are wanton criminal murderers in jail—not those who have killed in justifiable self-defense, but those who are outright criminal murderers: the jealous, jilted partner; the rapist and strangler; the organized crime murderer; etc.
Why are these individuals in jail,
taking up space at the expense of society and the state? And it is well known who funds the state.
They are alive and well because an uncivilized people have, through successive governments, universally elected to protect the right to life of the uncivilized at the expense of the civilized. Now—guess who has elected these successive governments?
Why, it's you and I!
More specifically, those who pride themselves on their benevolent civility by condoning the continued life of wanton murderers, who so often are later released only to—again—perpetrate their heinous violence on the innocent civilized.
A civilized society protects the civilized—at all and absolute costs—at the expense of the uncivilized. It does not protect the uncivilized—at all and absolute costs—at the expense of the civilized.
As for arguments regarding the complexity of situations, cases, and mitigating factors in defense of the uncivilized, the issue is simple: a civilized society places societal collateral damage on the shoulders of the uncivilized, not on the shoulders of the innocent civilized. In the so-called civilized society, acts perpetrated by known first offenders and re-offenders are tolerated as collateral damage that the innocent civilized must bear to accommodate and maintain a so-called "civilized" society.
Beyond the vast complexity of legal, political argument, and scholarly debate, the equation is simple: feed the hand that will slay you, and you will be slain!
