Traders Wanted - The Tibra Group

When you say compensation is in line with banks - how do you mean?

I saw another firm that advertised exactly this a while ago and actually i found that it was basic + 1yr bonus at the firm was = basic at bank.

Thats still not a bad earning, but I think if you were in it for the money (like most are) then I dont see how houses can match banks for talent? au959 your thoughts would be appreciated..

two and a half weeks.

great!
can u recollect how long did they take before inviting you for the first round tests?

on a tangent, how receptive/otherwise r these prop shops to applicants from outside of australia? (assuming they dnt have a presence in my place (singapore))

That net package = net package.

Which firm?

They can match the banks pretty easily. The profitability of these places is quite substantial and allows for healthy bonuses.

I still haven't decided which market making firm to apply for- I;ve tried to do as much research on these market making firms as possible. What I do know is that Tibra is being sued by Optiver ( i found this online
Optiver Australia Pty Ltd v Tibra Trading Pty Ltd [2008] FCAFC 133 (21 July 2008))

Can someone from either firm please comment on this- I don't think it would be a great career move to work for a firm that was about to potentially pay out a lot of money in damages

Confused

hi guys - does anyone have the tibra numerical/logic sample test paper they can share or maybe provide futher insight into questions if you took the test in 2008.

Greatly appreciated.

well buffthing, i took the tests last week and failed as expected!
the maths part of the test is quite simple but you are pressed for time. I found the logic part very difficult and again was pressed for time. I would suggest that you try to ace the maths part.... by being fast and accurate.. as for the logic part... i dont have much clue about that...lol

Questions are like...you buy 3000 shares in X for 2.55 each. You then buy a further 1200 when the price rises to 2.70 and finally sell for 2.65 each. what is your final position?

Well if you sold everything at 2.65 I'd say your position was flat. Your p/l however would be a different matter... :whistling

For experienced, successful fx traders,is it possible for a remote position or must have physical presence in ur offices? Thanks.
Tibra Capital and it's subsidiary, Tibra Trading, require traders (graduate and experienced) for positions in Sydney, London and Hong Kong.

The Tibra Group is an independently owned and operated group of companies with operations in market making, arbitrage, risk arbitrage, prop trading and algorithmic trading, amongst others. Tibra is active on most exchanges across Asia and Europe, with some US activities as well.

Although we specialise in equity derivatives (and have the greatest need here), we have opportunities for experienced, successful traders in many other areas including fx, fixed interest and energy.

If you are exceptionally smart, disciplined, motivated and keen to join a successful and expanding company, then i encourage you to apply.

A detailed understanding of option pricing theory (or the ability to learn it quickly and efficiently) and capacity to operate under significant pressure are essential.

Check out our website tibra.com.au for details and contact addresses.

im currently an undergrad doing an economics (property) degree in sydney, and 1 year into 2 year cadetship at a property company, however i love to trade and basicly spend more time at work doing that then what im meant to lol, is my course too unrelated to even bother applying?

as a general question to everyone, whats the benefit in joining a trading company if ur already trading very profitably at home? (the only thing im assuming is capital)

also whats the turnover of traders, as if they are getting paid that well surely some opt to trade from home for a living after a few years?

can you guys give any suggestions with the first round competency based interview with the HR manager at Tibra?? What sort of questions I need to prepare? Thanks!!

do have a strong passion for the industry and I do have a strong motivation, but i really don't know how to convince interviewer????????

Pretend you want to sleep with them (can be difficult) but replace all terms relating to sex to those relating with trading and making money.

Provided you can be convincing in the former, you can be in the later.

Has anyone been through the technical interview at Tibra? If so, what should I expect from it?

Any help greatly appreciated!
