All is not lost peter44 (i assume you have backed England  )

I actually think England have the edge this time in the batting stakes. Not by much. The only problem is...they have McGrath and Warne

At least they should both be gone in four years time, when the Australians will look considerably less fearsome. Maybe your options strategy should be implemented over the next four years...........

What; as a long term investment strategy with reduced risk sort of Cricket futures investment thingy......You mean

Lovely Day out, Europe and Britain,so I decided to put on my Shorts at around 10:27. Will watch some cricket later.

Just reading this and I have to disagree with you Pippppin, I don't think England have the edge in our batting at all. Vaughan is totally out of form. Bell is yet to prove himself against decent opposition and Peteirsen is obviously class but its still early. Additionally Freddie has no form.

The Aussies all have proven track records, they have been there and done it.

To be honest I for once am happier with our bowling combo of Hoggard, Harmy, Jones and Freddie

Yep, I dont count him. I think Collingwood should probably come in in place of Giles as he can bat and bowl a bit when the others are tired, especially if we keep preparing seamer friendly pitches.

I have now closed the GBP/AUD Long position of 20/07/2005 @ 2.3890

Total profit for this trade was

+910 Points

Looks like England could win the Ashes series as well. So I could pick up an extra £10 from my wager.

For competitions sake and for cycles sake I hope they do as it'll be the last chance for a while.

Dunno bout some of that umpiring.....!

Do you know joules, This test series has got to have been one of the all time greats, and probably the worst in terms of umpiring; I must agree....

Good luck for the last....

I don't see those remarks as snide at all, but as a sort of Aussie complement .

LOL

A few photos I took at the Trent Bridge test match.

The batsman walking back to the pavilion is Shane Warne, after his duck :)

Time to crank up this long forgotten thread

I see Ricky Ponting is mouthing off - a sure sign the Ozzies are worried.

Last week was just a bit of a warmer up
