One Trade a Week

Positions Update

Here's the positions update for this weeks trades so far. The market gaped higher on the open although it says the open price was 1281.65 for the S&P 500, but the futures were 15 points higher on the open from Friday, so I'm not sure why there wasn't a big gap?? The market has basically drifted lower since the 1st hour of the US session so the daily candle should look very different. More like Fridays one, but with a big gap between it and Fridays bar. I'm vexed as to why this happened. Manipulation maybe to make the price action appear more bullish than it is, who knows?? Anyway enough ranting, below is today's update.

Hi traders. Some very interesting trades this week. I'm going to scratch mine. The usd has broken a major level so I'm not going to hang around.

NGG looks like a nice bull flag. Look forward to seeing if that works out.

Gold gapped up 3 days in a row but OIL put in a reversal bar at resistance - could go either way here.

Good luck everyone,

Mike

Ok thanks for letting me know Mike, I'll put down your trade as scratched. Oil is a hard one to call. I've started using intraday 30 and 60 minute point and figure charts the last few weeks and am finding them invaluable for my style of trading. From those charts todays action made a double top buy signal and has pulled back, but it is still on a buy signal, so I'm staying in until the signal is invalidated or my stop is hit.

I might be too early with this but I'm going to move my stop to break even as oil has had a 1.85% ATR adjusted move today from the low to the high so far, so currently I'm around 0.75% up from my entry on monday and my breakeven point is below this afternoons consolidation levels. So I'm going to take my risk off and see if it can reach my target at 108 in the next few days.

Oops! Out again.

Had a feeling I should have either (a) closed at 6800 or (b) left the stop loose!

Oh well, at least its a winner this time.

Well done SlipC, it is hard to trade a different method than you are used to, but practice makes perfect. Make some small adjustments and the bigger moves will come. (y)

Looks like my oil trade's got some legs yet. Day traders have spotted the pin bar on the one hour chart from 3-4pm and is breaking higher again.
