I am confused with the open positions bit.
😢
( I dont want to go back and try to find posts.)
I am making an assumption that "open positions" are trades carried over from previous day, with possibly altered limits, as the nature of the market may have changed, which is understandable, so limits may have to alter to reflect that.
So, I am trying to follow the trades from today onwards. ( for simplicity )
So, over a period of time, hopefully my calcs will stabilise and accurately reflect the situation.
( probably better to start this on Monday morning ! )
reason for doing this: although 4 positions have resulted in 138 pips, there are 3 short positions, with, at 8480, a combined open loss exceeding the gains of today. I need to get my head around how "open positions", or trades carried over may resolve this over a period of time.
( a dip to 8410 will close two of those shorts for a profit, and reduced exposure, which is entirely feasible )
anyway, TODAYS trades resulted in +138. certainly a good start.
( I have to say, the idea of having trades that trigger buys and sells on different levels reminds me of camarilla, where bounces off some levels are treated as range-moves, and moves beyond certain levels are treated as breakouts.
🙂 )
its also interesting how a wide enough range play results in opposing positions are generated resulting in controlled losses, eg, when a buy triggers later on to offset a sell earlier, or vice-versa.
