Is Mr Charts for real?

this thread will probably get deleted and I will be accused of being a fascist. I know Mr Charts is well thought of and has contributed to this book ting but I just don't get it. His rising/falling candles approach to US stocks seems fairly sound I havn't tried it perhaps others can report on its effectiveness. I just don't get why a long term profitable trader with a solid edge needs to become a vendor. I notice on his website below he has beefed up his marketing:

Trades Sept 12 | NASDAQ NYSE Trading Courses

we now have a blog with all the trades
we have live alerts
we have a teaching site
there are no less than 4 course options

Can someone help me out with this I dont get it. a lot of effort is going into the teaching and clearly time is being taken away from trading to teach.

He says on his website that he 'made the much dreamed of transition from day job to intra day trader of US shares ten years ago and have been coaching others how to do the same thing.'

So if someone has been the transition to trading 10 years ago wtf are they doing selling all this course material. Surely earning say 1% per day compounded using their system would be endlessly far more profitable.

so help me out, what is going on here? it just doesn't sound right to me.

peace and love.

First let me say that I like Mr Charts and think he's a good egg. He is a good member of this site and his contributions have value.

It is true that he should be beheaded (as should all who insult the religion of peace and toleration) but that is nothing personal. Though I wouldst with mine own hands cleave his head even from his shoulders with an single stroke, still wouldst I weep while the blow struck home. And yea! wouldst I gnash my teeth and rend even my raiment. And yet! wouldst I also rejoice at the thought of the infidel slain, and wouldst I also licketh even my chops at the thought of the multitude of virgins that doth await me in paradise.

Where was I? Oh yes, Mr Charts. Well, you're not the first that's wondered about him. There is the eternal question - if you trade successfully, why teach? This is a tricky one to get around without doubt, especially if teaching takes up a significant amount of time. Plus, what a pain to deal with noobs!

In most cases, I do not believe that those who teach trading certainly cannot do trading - see the Baghdaddys and Stanziones of this world.

Mr Charts - I hope he is genuine. He may well be.

There is the other question of course. Just because someone can't make a living trading, doesn't mean their method is no good. In trading above all things I think, knowing and doing are very different things.

So I would be inclined to come down (cautiously and just about) on the side of Mr Charts.

bwana. I have taken a look at the material on his thread and it does seem sound to me, that's why i don't see why push to teach people, doesn't stack up. unless he is doing it as he enjoys teaching or to share the man love. I will have to wait for beginner joe to ask him for statements

I dont know the history of tha baghdaddy guy, i saw a video of him selling something and he sounded like a tool. Are you saying the guy had a known track record?

it's just all a bit wiffy:(

Does he have a record? I should rather say that he does. T2W deletes a lot of criticism about him though so much of the material on here has vanished. Still, certain items are interesting - he is world trading champion (there is no such thing) and when he filed for bankruptcy in New York he listed a substantial income from teaching but rather less - 0, to be exact - from trading. Those should give you a flavour.

Best of all is to listen to your instinct. Sounds like a tool? You know what to do then.

I did in a round about sort of way once in PM. There was no interest, so I lost interest. I tend to prune less than 100% candidates fairly quickly.

One thing is certain, there is more certainty and steady income from training, and you don't need to know much, other than being able to promise the sky to people.

First let's disginuish between the long term vendors on here who have made valuable contributions over a period of time and have helped quite a few traders either via thread posts or PM's. These vendors clearly add value to t2w and so their vendor status and marketing, within reason, is generally accepted. Whether their methods work or not is another topic.

Then we have the newbie poster who flashes cool looking multi-colored charts, fancy market analysys, and/or act like total newbies and throw in a few links. They are seeking one thing only and that's subscriptions and revenue. They add no value to t2w whatsoever and wouldn't help out their grandmother unless she bought a subscription.

That's the difference.

I agree. Some people just don't have the emotional ability to handle the ups and downs of trading. That doesn't mean they can't successfully teach their methods to others that are able to handle it.

Just out of interest, are the vendor tags working now ?

I noticed the really important changes, such as putting a little blue NEW icon to draw attention to the T2W book had been done. I was just wondered if the far less important task of alerting new members to vendors with a commercial adgenda had been sorted out.

Mr Charts is in some very dodgy company in that book though - I'm surprised he got involved. For example, there's Nazi-Box Cohen, he of the many secrets. There's also wotsername, ForexSlag or whatever she calls herself. You know, the lady of a certain age who runs a website, pictures of her in skimpies all over it.

Both are potentially harmful to new traders, the former even more so as they appear to have some credibility and might even have a little cult following thang going on, though as you said wp2 their methods may well be as useful as a ffocp.

A loser teaching you to be a winner ? That is certainly innovative.

They always wheel out the old arguments about mediocre football players being great coaches or managers.

There is some merit in that argument, but not much.

If you knew that your coach/mentor couldn't trade it would make it very difficult to have confidence in any methods that they try to teach you. I've witnessed sports coaches who sucked, but when it comes to teaching they're really quite good.

Agreed. Good point.
