Hello,
I am a student of law, thinking about either working in international capital markets department of a legal firm or in a bank etc., once I qualify as a solicitor. I do not exclude the possibility of dropping my legal career either and moving into finance.

I have been looking for a certificate/course which would:
1) give me good foundation and some general knowledge in finance.
2) boost my CV by showing commitment to the given sector
3) preferably be recognised (to any extent) in USA

I have come across two interesting programmes:
-IMC (Investment Management Certificate)
-CISI Certificate in Investment Management

I would be grateful for some help on which would be a better choice. IMC seems to have a broader curriculum, but CISI allows to take other CISI certificates without having to pass the first regulatory unit again. So it would open me possibilities for further education.

If you happen to know any other certificates, I would be grateful for information!

Thank you for your advice!
Theriel

Hi,

I advise you to look into studying towards CFA charter.

It is very well respected within the IM industry however it can be rather time consuming.

Having a background in Finance, Accounting or Economics would be definitely be a bonus

Hi
I'm doing the IMC at the moment.
If you take the IMC, and then follow on into CFA Level 1, it sets you up for compliance with the RDR and FSA authorisation.
