Gentlemen, the culmination of our great plan approaches fast. What the Master called “the ordering of men’s affairs by a transcendent world state, ordained by God and answerable to no man”, which we now know as Communist World Government, advances towards its climax at Copenhagen. For 185 years since the Master, known to the laity as Joseph Fourier, launched his scheme for world domination, the entire physical science community has been working towards this moment.

The early phases of the plan worked magnificently. First the Master’s initial thesis - that the release of infrared radiation is delayed by the atmosphere - had to be accepted by the scientific establishment. I will not bother you with details of the gold paid, the threats made and the blood spilt to achieve this end. But the result was the elimination of the naysayers and the disgrace or incarceration of the Master’s rivals. Within 35 years the 3rd Warden of the Grand Temple of the Knights Carbonic (our revered prophet John Tyndall) was able to “demonstrate” the Master’s thesis. Our control of physical science was by then so tight that no major objections were sustained.

More resistence was encountered (and swiftly despatched) when we sought to install the 6th Warden (Svante Arrhenius) first as professor of physics at Stockholm University, then as rector. From this position he was able to project the Master’s second grand law - that the infrared radiation trapped in a planet’s atmosphere increases in line with the quantity of carbon dioxide the atmosphere contains. He and his followers (led by the Junior Warden Max Planck) were then able to adapt the entire canon of physical and chemical science to sustain the second law.

Then began the most hazardous task of all: our attempt to control the instrumental record. Securing the consent of the scientific establishment was a simple matter. But thermometers had by then become widely available, and amateur meteorologists were making their own readings. We needed to show a steady rise as industrialisation proceeded, but some of these unfortunates had other ideas. The global co-option of police and coroners required unprecedented resources, but so far we have been able to cover our tracks.

The over-enthusiasm of certain of the Knights Carbonic in 1998 was most regrettable. The high reading in that year has proved impossibly costly to sustain. Those of our enemies who have yet to be silenced maintain that the lower temperatures after that date provide evidence of global cooling, even though we have ensured that eight of the ten warmest years since 1850 have occurred since 2001(10). From now on we will engineer a smoother progression.

Our co-option of the physical world has been just as successful. The thinning of the Arctic ice cap was a masterstroke. The ring of secret nuclear power stations around the Arctic Circle, attached to giant immersion heaters, remains undetected, as do the space-based lasers dissolving the world’s glaciers.

Altering the migratory and reproductive patterns of the world’s wildlife has proved more challenging. Though we have now asserted control over the world’s biologists, there is no accounting for the unauthorised observations of farmers, gardeners, bird-watchers and other troublemakers. We have therefore been forced to drive migrating birds, fish and insects into higher latitudes, and to release several million tonnes of plant pheromones every year to accelerate flowering and fruiting. None of this is cheap, and ever more public money, secretly diverted from national accounts by compliant governments, is required to sustain it.

The co-operation of these governments requires unflagging effort. The capture of George W. Bush, a late convert to the cause of Communist World Government, was made possible only by the threatened release of footage filmed by a knight at Yale, showing the future president engaged in coitus with a Ford Mustang. Most ostensibly-capitalist governments remain apprised of where their real interests lie, though I note with disappointment that we have so far failed to eliminate Vaclav Klaus. Through the offices of compliant states, the Master’s third grand law has been accepted: world government will be established under the guise of controlling manmade emissions of greenhouse gases.

Keeping the scientific community in line remains a challenge. The national academies are becoming ever more querulous and greedy, and require higher pay-offs each year. The inexplicable events of the past month, in which the windows of all the leading scientific institutions were broken and a horse’s head turned up in James Hansen’s bed, appear to have staved off the immediate crisis, but for how much longer can we maintain the consensus?

Knights Carbonic, now that the hour of our triumph is at hand, I urge you all to redouble your efforts. In the name of the Master, go forth and terrify.

Professor Ernst Kattweizel, University of Redcar. 21st Grand Warden of the Temple of the Knights Carbonic.”

A grain of truth is oft uttered in jest ... too bad for Copenhagen fellows ... but press on, you know, back to ye aulde drawing board.

You almost pulled it off, but you underestimated the common sense of the plebiscite. In times of threat, they always dig deep, and you will have to find another ruse now.

UN to probe doomsday glacier forecast

The United Nations' panel of climate scientists says it will probe claims its doomsday prediction for the disappearance of Himalayan glaciers was wrong, as an expert said he had warned of the mistake.

The Nobel-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is already under attack over hacked email exchanges which sceptics say reflected attempts to skew the evidence for global warming.

The new controversy focuses on a reference in the IPCC's landmark Fourth Assessment Report in 2007 that said the probability of glaciers in the Himalayas "disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high".

At the weekend, Britain's Sunday Times newspaper reported that this reference came from the green campaign group WWF, which in turn took it from an interview given by an Indian glaciologist to New Scientist magazine in 1999.

There is no evidence that the claim was published in a peer-reviewed journal, a cornerstone of scientific credibility, it said.

"We are looking into the issue of the Himalayan glaciers, and will take a position on it in the next two or three days," IPCC's chairman Rajendra Pachauri said in an email.

In an interview with AFP, a leading glaciologist who contributed to the Fourth Assessment Report described the mistake as "huge" and said he had notified his colleagues of it in late 2006, months before publication.

Loss of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035 would take two or three times the highest expected rate of global warming, said Georg Kaser of the Geography Institute at Austria's University of Innsbruck.

"This number is not just a little bit wrong, but far out of any order of magnitude. It is as wrong as can be wrong.

"To get this outcome, you would have to increase the ablation [ice loss] by 20-fold. You would have to raise temperatures by at least 12 degrees.

"It is so wrong that it is not even worth discussing ... I pointed it out."

Asked why his warning had not been heeded, Dr Kaser pointed to "a kind of amateurism" among experts from the region who were in charge of the chapter on climate impacts, where the reference appeared.

"They might have been good hydrologists or botanists, but they were without any knowledge in glaciology," he said.

The Fourth Assessment Report said that the evidence for global warming was now "unequivocal," that the chief source for it was man-made, and that there were already signs of climate change, of which glacial melt was one.

The massive publication had the effect of a political thunderclap, triggering promises to curb greenhouse gases that had stoked the problem.

Dr Kaser said the core evidence of the Fourth Assessment Report remained incontrovertible.

"I am careful in saying this, because immediately people will again engage in IPCC bashing, which would be wrong," he said.

But he acknowledged that the process of peer review, scrutiny and challenge which underpin the IPCC's reputation had "entirely failed" when it came specifically to the 2035 figure.

The 2035 reference appeared in the second volume of the Fourth Assessment Report, a tome published in April 2007 that focused on the impacts of climate change, especially on human communities.

Part of the problem, said Dr Kaser, was "everyone was focused" on the first volume, published in February 2007, which detailed the physical science for climate change.

Work on this volume was "much more attractive to the community" of glaciologists, and they had failed to pick up on the mistake that appeared in the second, he said.

The question of glacial melt is a vital one for South Asia, as it touches on flooding or water stress with the potential to affect hundreds of millions of lives.

Indian environment minister Jairam Ramesh has repeatedly challenged the IPCC's claims.

The IPCC came under ferocious attack from climate sceptics last month ahead of the UN conference in Copenhagen.

Emails from scientists at Britain's University of East Anglia, a top centre for climate research, were leaked and seized upon as evidence that experts twisted data in order to dramatise global warming.

Some of the thousands of messages expressed frustration at the scientists' inability to explain what they described as a temporary slowdown in warming. Dr Pachauri has vowed to investigate the affair.

Underlining, emboldening and accentuation entirely my own.

There are enough smoking-gun real emails without making them up.

:LOL::LOL:

But we always knew that.

You would have to be from the Planet of the Apes to miss the tax and power grab angle on AGW and the rest of the rot which was railroaded at us at Copenhagen!

Nice try fella's!

Thing that strikes me as funny now is that once-austere Australian ABC is only now deciding to print the truth!

Sometimes I really do wonder how journalists think ... why do they NOW print these stories, when the stories - the truth - have been staring at them all the time!

Mainstream journos are a truly strange breed - so desperate to please the editor with the news of the day that they miss the really big stories - the scandals of scientists so desperate for the funding dollar that they are happy to falsify a few data.

Here was one just waiting to be hatched, but until now, no one wanted to know about it.

Now, I'd better move over, because I'm expecting the big fella to come on shortly, to tell us about the science and how the scientists got it right.

Time to load up with more rubber bullets and ... yeah, you guessed it ... very smoky guns!

I suppose a lot of journalists suffer from a very severe herd mentality problem. The UK is exactly the same - it's shocking what the MSM miss.

Another great benefit of the internet - it's very difficult to keep a story under wraps anymore.

As Maxwell Smart would have said "The old secret and ancient knowledge trick".

Especially useful when that "secret and ancient knowledge" has a multiplicity of uses. That map has been used as "evidence" of visitations by aliens who mapped Antarctica from space. Great to see it put to further use in disputing AGW.

It's a shame really that it is most probably not a map of Antarctic plus or minus some ice. And that spoils a good yarn.

http://www.uwgb.edu/dutchs/PSEUDOSC/PiriRies.HTM

But I'm glad this has been raised, because it does show something about the denialist mode of thought. Far from being true skeptics and possessed of a self proclaimed "open-mindedness", they grasp onto any old nonsense (so long as there is some convoluted connection to AGW) holding it to be critical evidence that the great weight of scientific opinion is a least wrong and probably corrupt. In true Orwellian fashion, war is peace, freedom is slavery and skepticism is gullibility.

... it does show something about the denialist mode of thought ...

Yes folks, right on cue. The "man" has arrived, complete with alarmist tool-kit.

Soooo predictable it's nauseating. We had your chair ready, DCraig. It's over there near Phil Jones and Michael Mann.

The liars club 2003-2009. Slightly discredited, and looking a tad haggard these days.
Sort of a big credibility gap, but I suppose those who read from the AGW Bible must show SOME faith.

Oh, and if you hear the beep-beep-beep "vehicle-reversing" noise, that will be the IPCC machine quickly getting away from their hallowed doctrines, so hastily based on misinformation and curve-fitted lies and false data.

Same old tired line.

Soooo facile! :sleep::sleep:

Like flies to a honeypot, so are the alarmists of our lives!:LOL:

The Piri Reis Map is sort of DCraigish - full of uncertainty and pseudo-science, mis-information and politically correct in rabbiting the now heavily disproved AGW argument. No one cares any more, DCraig - you just don't get it. The proponents have wounded their own feet with a stray bullet from a smoking gun!

In short, AGW is the 21st century April Fools joke, and guess who's the fool!
You may not have noticed, but Climate Change has been removed from the ABC.net.au website - cancelled due to lack of interest.

By the way, on your way out, would you be so kind as to close the door and turn out the lights? No one is interested the big 2009 AGW hoax any more.:sleep:

There are more important things in 2010

But hey! Don't let me get in the way of your great hobby ... keeps the mind alert! ;)

You never know - you might just save the world!:clap:

Another one who got a box of emoticons for Christmas.

Do you have any more fairy tales about maps drawn with ancient "knowledge", possibly provided by aliens, that are irrefutable evidence against AGW?

You seem to have your panties in a twist here.
All I did was post a link. No comment whatsoever.
Opening up a debate is not closed mind...quite the opposite in fact.

Sorry Bud - I didn't post the link.

Are you naturally rude to people who contribute to a thread, or is it something you have to work at?

And the emoticons were given in the spirit of your stance on AGW - infantile - herd thinking, alarmist, inflexible and condescending to any other points of view.

And please explain why it is that you feel you are the head woofa around here, and obliged to counter or refute any other opinions, comments or ideas that just happen to oppose your own narrow-minded view of manipulated "science" on AGW.

Tad arrogant of you.
You have tipped the temerity bottle a bit heavily, Bud!

Another post whose content is mostly noise. Totally off topic.

First you say this:

Brilliant ... absolutely brilliant.

More ... please.

...then, after you're called on it, you say this:

The Piri Reis Map is sort of DCraigish - full of uncertainty and pseudo-science, mis-information and politically correct in rabbiting the now heavily disproved AGW argument.

We've already established in the trillionaire thread that you're hopelessly gullible, and the above 2nd missile was a transparent attempt to hide this brutally obvious character trait.
Unless you've got some proof that a single family's wealth exceeds world GDP? I'm still waiting.

We've already established in the trillionaire thread that you're hopelessly gullible ...

Unless you've got some proof that a single family's wealth exceeds world GDP?

I'm still waiting.

Sorry - I left the Trillionaire's thread behind - I thought it was a light-hearted dig in the ribs.

But - don't let me stop you waiting - would you like lunch sent over while you wait?
Fries with that?

oooh ... It's all too much, isn't it.

Isn't it exciting to be able to take a position on whether something written 600 years ago is authentic or not? Especially when none of us is an expert on anything but Google?

Here's you getting all hot and sticky, name-calling like your brother DCraig.

And here's me watching you getting into a lather over nothing but a few words that don't mean Jack!

Taking the mickey out of the seriously-challenged ego-stricken is the sport of the light-hearted.
Whether the "we have already established" anything, is wonderful - I'm surprised "we" have gotten that far.

But I think "we" may be establishing something else here.

Now, I have to go and check the "Trillionaire thread" to try to rescue my credibility. I am surprised I had any to rescue, and it's absolutely fantastic that I have actually stirred ANYONE into a frenzy to reply to ANYTHING I have written.
Wouldn't want people to think anything true about me. I was born hopelessly gullible ... naive and easily led, just to save you another post to express that.

Secretly I am thinking: "Yes! Someone responded! I have cred!"

Don't take yourself so seriously ... I don't!

Lighten up digger. The AGW alarmists are making fools of themselves daily, and all because they are gullible, thinking themselves wise.:clap:

Time has a way of bringing through the truth, which ALWAYS comes out.

Unfortunately for DCraig, who is NOT a climatologist, but an arm-chair Googlist, he got sucked in by something and committed to it.

Now he is too proud to concede that he has been duped by the Michael Mann's and Phil Jones' of the world. (There you go, Craigie - more for you to write back about)

Consequently he is running an Internet campaign to show why he is sooo intelligent and the "denialists" are fools.

He is right - I am a fool, but a happy one, because I can enjoy watching DCraig and yourself truly establish your own gullibility in following something that is based not on science, but a need to bilk the population.

A little truth mixed with a lie is a dangerous thing. Because I am not a scientist (especially ignorant of climatology) I can freely look at both sides of the story, and I clearly smell a rat.

If (and I accentuate "if") AGW was any sort of a threat, governments would NOT be waiting to get some binding and enslaving agreement at a global political level - they would be acting IMMEDIATELY and independently. Of course now I have just given you and the other dill something to respond to, to tell why governments can't do that alone.

The Copenhagen deal was a failed attempt to establish the beginnings of a World body which had the power to not only impose their pontifications on the rest of us, but to actually intrude and inspect sovereign nations, and wield a big stick of they were not compliant.

And, surprise, taxing emissions does not actually REDUCE the amount of CO2 (which is not a problem - apparently there have been times in history where the CO2 has been hundreds of times higher. But the taxes are a brilliant way of raising money from the ruse.

I have no influence to change that, and I am sooo pleased they failed.

But isn't it fun. Us sitting here and explaining ourselves to each other, and getting all het up over it all.

I love the Internet ... and people who take themselves ooh sooo seriously over something they have no scientific training in whatsoever ... just a degree in Googling.

Chill out bro!

If you want to get involved in something, try to work out why the Americans have started and fought most of the lesser wars in the last 100 years.

That might explain your attitude. How much collateral damage, friendly fire and innocent civilian death has been caused by cowboy yanks with too much testosterone?

I bet you own a gun, right?

Nice attempt at hand waving.
Answer the question.

No sweat bud!

I have no proof - I don't know these people, and nor do you.
I don't know whether there is any Faceless people, and nor do you.

I don't know that anyone who gets on the Forbes list has the assets/money, and nor do you.

In fact, "we" collectively know nothing.
We "know" only what is read in the writings of someone who publishes the information.
We have no proof of its authenticity or otherwise.

All we have is our willingness to blindly believe what we read, or question what we read.

I don't know anything outside of my own experience.

Now ... your turn to answer the question, ducky ... do you own a gun?

Simple - it's yes or it's no. Don't be shy now.

No.
Also, you have no proof.
So, we've now established that your standard of proof is, well, exactly nothing.
Have a nice life.
