Lack of knowledge of fundamentalist Christian beliefs noted. The earth was made in 7 days, call them heaven days if you like. Fundamentalist Christians added up all the generations in the bible since the flood to evaluate the 'true' time that the earth has existed.

The answer to your question is far too complex here but for your homework go and read "The Blind Watchmaker" by Richard Dawkins and you will realize how uneducated are the assumptions made by fundamentalist Christians regarding evolution in their efforts to 'prove' it is not true.
