Brexit and the Consequences

Interesting story from the deputy leader of the BREXIT ground campaign http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/09/inside-story-brexit-vote-won/

Personally, I'm a bit dubious of his reasoning – I think it's more likely to be a coincidence with the greater effect of the immigration factor which is what I think swayed the vote (nothing much to do with economics in my opinion). And of course, the pollsters' and results predictors' technical analysis has not been too good in recent times. So just like stock-market gurus and poorly performing fund managers, they all need to come up with a different but believable story. But if he and his software are right then future elections might become even more of a pain in the ar$e, oops! I mean interesting, for those who get contacted to come out and vote.

Despite the news, UKGOV will have a pretty good idea about what the Germans, Chinese, Russians, Americans, French, Indonesian etc govt are thinking about the Brexit situation.

News speculation is of no concern and can be safely ignored, good for presenting in online debates though.

Doubtful about the concept of liberating nations from themselves........ha ha

Yes, it's quite a pickle they have gotten themselves into. Signing away sovereign power to unelected immovable EU officials. How did they think it would all end !

In commissioner jobs , power and with hugely paid "consultancies" afterwards. What else? I mean what else do you think the raison d'etre of politicians is?

Yes quite so. was

It amuses me greatly that the public have become more polisceptic and there is certainly no deference these days towards those who are supposedly our betters.

Democracy at last !(y)

And maybe claimed the costs on expenses, which we have to pay. Reminds me of Jackie Smith claiming the cost of her husband"s porn movies while she was away in London as Home Secretary.

If you listen carefully to this wonderful song, he does mention a few words about paying some bills ;)

I was thinking whilst interest rates are low and CBs keep printing money, let's dance.:love::love::love::love::love::love:

Halifax House Price Index

I like the sound of moderation. :)

Martin Ellis, Halifax housing economist, said:
“House prices in the three months to August were
0.7% higher than in the previous quarter; down
from 1.5% in July. The annual rate of growth fell
from 8.4% in July to 6.9%.

"House price growth continued the trend of the
past few months in August with a further
moderation in both the annual and quarterly rates
of increase. There are also signs of a softening in
sales activity.

“The slowdown in the rate of house price growth is
consistent with the forecast that we made at the
end of 2015. Increasing difficulties in purchasing a
home as house prices continued to increase more
quickly than earnings were expected to constrain
demand, curbing house price growth.”

Yeah woteva Mark.

"This financial system, under the oversight of the Bank of England, sailed through what was a surprise to the vast majority of financial market participants," Mr Carney said.

Only a surprise to all those who weren't paying attention !

FFS CV you keep rabbitting on about how you knew? You said many things and yes on the referendum you were on the winning side which was a big surprise to many.

You also said Leadsom would be PM because you were part of the Conservative party worker bee or something. That didn't happen. You certainly didn't predict any of the post referendum developments which were equally shocking and not predicted by any.

You certainly didn't predict anything like the fall of the pound. You didn't say anything about Theresa May.

So you got a close 50/50 call right and you hail your self a legend. It's about time you got over your self. A

You obviously don't get enough adulation at home you have to seek in on the www.

For some reason you remind me of the girl with the curly hair in Charlie Brown who goes around telling everyone how wonderful her curly hair is. I suspect you are bald but who knows maybe you were a toupee.

Here's an idea for you! Have it scribed on your tomb stone as the man who knew! Then you can literally take it to your grave and save the world from your self adulation.

:cheesy:

Still not over it I see

These experts are something else aren't they !
Essentially, they put out a narrative that suits their agenda and self interest, aided and abetted by their govt paymasters.

Have you not figured all this out yet? Thought you were supposed to be some big wig economist

As for Leadsom, she didn't have establishment organisation or an advisory team behind her. Little wonder she quickly decided it was probably in the countries best interests not to have a contest at that time. She did however, see off all the opposition and I have no doubts that if it had gone out to party members, she may well have been victorious.
I see her standing aside, on the issue of leader, as the principled approach, a rare quality these days amongst a sea of MP dross.
