ART - not just pretty pics

Of course art sells things in a commercial sense. This poster of Bette Davis must have got the public flocking to the flics.

Art it seems to me is very much in the eye of the beholder.
It should in my opinion be positive and uplifting. But can rouse other emotions too.
If it puts off the stupidity of war so much the better.

Niii noo niii noo...

Look out, there are art police about :!:

Depends which one of the senses one is trying to satisfy.

One's for the eyes and the other for the taste buds.

I know which one I'd like to hold in my hands.

Or put up on my wall...

Here is a pic of Cabaret. A dishee lady for Tom to get his senses up and running. I picked up a mirror years ago with a Cabaret pic on it. Wonder if it is worth anything ?

Went to see Paul Nash exhibition yesterday at the Sainsbury Centre of Visual Arts at University of East Anglia, Norwich. I am particularly interested in his war art but actually the bulk of the exhibition shows his development as a painter and his influences.
Well worth going to if you are in that neck of the woods.
Also the Sainsbury centre is a hidden gem with a great restaurant, a very eclectic free permanent collection and amazing building (designed by Sir Norman Foster) and grounds with Henry Moore sculptures.

BBC 4 The Art Lover's Guide
Episode 1 on iPlayer

It starts off a little dumbed down stylistically but then proves really enjoyable and informative.
