Never followed the VIX.
Did it go up 8% last night or did I hear it wrong.

yep, it went up from extremely low levels, pretty reliable for indicating tops.

the cost of protecting your long equity position is very low, no one was buying protection and now suddenly people want protection.

in keeping with the narrow daily ranges, we should see FTSE low put in around 5825/5820
