A new forum - just for me!

How about a 10 or 15 post count before being able to start a thread.

That has already been tried and it is mainly why you get the above just to get post count up.

Has Steve gone ?
Or do you have 2 CEO's now ?
Or did teh office junior **** up again ?

there were two suggestions I made a while back and I'd like to know if any progress has been made on either...

1) ability to "follow" a poster
2) ability to "mark threads as unread"

anybody??

This one I think:

Steve, please can I have your thoughts on two features I have suggested many times but had no feedback on: Firstly, the option to "follow" another member, and be advised when they have made a new post (so members can easily see posts they are likely to be interested in). Secondly, the option to mark a thread as "unread" in ones settings panel (so members can read new posts in a thread, consider responses, and go back to reply).

I feel that both of these features, if implemented, would make finding material that members appreciate much easier to find, and in turn, contribute to*.

I don't have an immediate answer but i'll find out if it's a possibility.

Hi, Steve. Sorry, I missed your earlier post. If it had anything specific about the "viewers" box would you please give me the post number?

Sharky and I had an exchange on 1) about a year ago. I would like to use the thread "viewers" box to follow a certain poster when the thread has a lot of pages..

He said that it was a vbulletin problem that they would have fixed by (last) summer. It is, still, the same, though, as far as I am concerned.

I got in by using Chrome, once, but find it a nuisance because I do not use Chrome very much.

Hello Splitlink - There was nothing specific about the viewers box but now I'm aware of it i'll dig in to this to and get an answer.

Sorry, Steve, I posted "viewers", it should have been "replies"

Perhaps that was not the thread following that you meant. However, it is a good method, if it works and it used to work for me, at one time.

By pressing "replies" a box pops up and then , by pressing the number of posts in that box for a specific poster, all his posts show.

i remember the "replies" box issue, i think it's more correctly called the who posted box. it's working ok for me at the moment split, but as you know that can change like the wind.

try these links mate and see if your browser gets it's knickers in a twist. it doesn't display in the handy popup box, just displays in a browser window, it will still display all the members posts in that thread if post count clicked, again the popup box proper has stopped working :( and fails to find the posts. but at least everyone can see what you're on about from the links if they don't know, and maybe offer us assistance.

 Just read your edit. But I have not even been able to find the damned button to press! Where is it !!!!????

I just use the posters profile links.
I'll use yours as an example:

http://www.trade2win.com/boards/members/437686-hakuna-matata.html
In profile, click on statistics:
http://www.trade2win.com/boards/search.php?searchid=12110240
http://www.trade2win.com/boards/search.php?searchid=12110242

I just bookmark the profiles by clicking on username in thread, easiest way I've found.

To follow an interesting thread, click on the number of replies in subforum menu, which opens this link:
http://www.trade2win.com/boards/misc.php?do=whoposted&t=159966
Then click on the number of posts for a particular poster, all their replies in that thread listed:
http://www.trade2win.com/boards/search.php?searchid=12110302

Click on the attachments paperclip icon in subforum menu for list of attached files:

if you mean on the example links in my post? if that, then just click the post counts on the far right of the window. if not then not sure what you mean?

i've just had a thought why the popup function may not be working, i'll post about that, if it works out.

 popup post search function is working ok again now. though it looks more like a resized browser window now than the popup we know. so can't tell yet why it doesn't always work.

i'm sure for most people the member post search functions work fine all the time.

for others they don't work at all, or are sporadic at best. they don't appear to be in any rush to fix the issues and that's the complaint.

Hey that's a bit unfair - don't forget I was not here when a lot of this stuff was raised and I have already said that we need to do better either by fixing a problem or telling you why we are stuck with it!!!

Have a look at my involvement over the past months and you'll see this is exactly what has happpened, if someone has asked about something I find the answer and report back.

Once I'm clear on what is happening with these recent exchanges i'll do exactly that.

Actually, it's Hakuna Matata's fault, in his post 225. :D If I had not seen that I would not have posted on this thread, today.
