YM liquidity is at last decent for the modest player (1-30 lots regularly available at every level) and the stupid gappy jumps seen a couple of years ago are very infrequent. She can sure move fast, on occasion, but the price progression is almost always point to point (not 3 or 5).
Que signifie "scalping"?
She is is good for 4-10 point McFlurries, but there's imho no point gunning for a mere tick or two unless your commissions are sub $0.75 and you have a wildy fast platform, neglible latency, and a magnificent ability to read the tape. If so, then enjoy the fact that the queue to be filled is shorter than ES. But don't try leaning or telling her you're marketmaker, as if she were a common BoblScahtz.🙂
YM is a beautiful product if you are a brave fish with a small but accomodating mouth and infinite patience. She also trends, if you let her. My natural inclination is to scalp for 5 or 6 and close the lot every time; yet it is the brave runner(s) that almost invisibly fetch the bulk of the monthly bacon. Keep the stops painfully tight and suddenly the runners are paying the cost of business, leaving the multilot scalps in your pocket. [with thanks to commanderco, man of oddly ignored wisdom]. 🙂
