Whoa! my computer is coming under some fire tonight. Something or someone is trying almost every port to access my machine, must have had 100+ attempts in the last few minutes

Norton Personal firewall seems to be struggling a bit as well and it has crashed twice

Time to update my machine and go to bed I think.

there are some known vulnerabilities in Norton - make sure to do the LiveUpdate to get updates. As for port scans, thats not that uncommon.

Why not run the various port scans available at GRC - Shields Up and see exactly where the problem lies?

My firewall (ZoneAlarm) passes every time I test it with flying colour - best of all, its free.
