Transition to futures trading

Hello, I’ve been trading spread bets / CFDs for some years now and am trading at a reasonable size. I’m starting to feel as if these types of derivatives are a bit amateur. Crap fills, slippage etc.

I’ve been looking at futures i.e. E-Mini S&P.

I use Pro Real Time and can see I can sign-up to Interactive Brokers and continue to use that. Does anyone has experience of this setup or has made the transition from SB / CFD to E-mini S&P who can offer some advice?

I am looking for shorter-term trades. Is the spread meant to be 1 tick i.e. 0.25?

Or are there any other platforms I should be looking at? Do people use the ladder to trade these products?

I went from CFD’s through IG to trading futures on IB. 1 tick is the spread on the S&P . I use ninja trader with a specialist superdom I purchased as an add on.

IB isn’t the best data wise when using a different platform so I would recommend you get a data feed from IQ Feed.

Thanks, I actually use ProRealTime as a stand alone package with real data. They offer trading on IB through them so was looking to try that.

Hello, I would recommend trading the Micros Eminis, they are getting a lot of volume and a lower margin request.
