Traders Wanted - The Tibra Group

Tibra Capital and it's subsidiary, Tibra Trading, require traders (graduate and experienced) for positions in Sydney, London and Hong Kong.

The Tibra Group is an independently owned and operated group of companies with operations in market making, arbitrage, risk arbitrage, prop trading and algorithmic trading, amongst others. Tibra is active on most exchanges across Asia and Europe, with some US activities as well.

Although we specialise in equity derivatives (and have the greatest need here), we have opportunities for experienced, successful traders in many other areas including fx, fixed interest and energy.

If you are exceptionally smart, disciplined, motivated and keen to join a successful and expanding company, then i encourage you to apply.

A detailed understanding of option pricing theory (or the ability to learn it quickly and efficiently) and capacity to operate under significant pressure are essential.

Check out our website tibra.com.au for details and contact addresses.

What is the testing / interview process like? Are they competency based interviews or market related? How many Traders are you looking to hire in the UK?

There is a maths testing process and normally 2 interviews...the focus is on finding the sharpest and most focussed, disciplined people we can...there are often a few ways to do this...we are always looking for exceptional candidates...we create jobs and trading positions for the right people...testing at present is available in our offices in Sudney, London and HK...

It is important to note, we are not an arcade...the basic in london is 60k and in Australia it is 100k, but we expect only the best...experience is not necessary, but an ability to learn fast is crucial.

Hope that helps.

hi rookie,
I am a prop trader from Sydney australia trading futures. I am moving to london on 2nd May. I have a Masters degree in applied finance as well. I would like to apply for the tibra test in london. Could you direct me in the right direction? should i go on your website and apply? I need to apply for the position in london. I am in sydney till 2nd May.

I'm finishing off a masters in financial mathematics and have been invited to a "group testing" interview at tibra capital, does anyone know what this entails????

I am a student at school still. Do you know if Tibra offer work experience placements?

I've sent in my resume and cover letter, how long should I wait for a reply? I haven't heard anything and sent it nearly 2 weeks ago.

when you mentioned 60k basic /100k basic, do you mean Tibra offers a basic salary package of 60k/100k per annum? or do you mean expected income derived from the commission from profit?

Thanks.

Hi

you say experience is not neccessary but ability learn faster is crucial. Probably the entry test can decide that.I am a successful trader and they call me to apply. when I applied, instead of calling me for a test simply rejected. Really wonder what is going on ?.

Hi,

Please don't confuse Tibra Capital with a 'prop shop' or 'trading arcade'.

Our traders are employees and our basic salaries are exactly that. We have well over 100 employees across offices in Sydney, Hong Kong, London and now Amsterdam.

We pay our trainees well so that they can concentrate on learning in what is an extremely challenging industry. In return, we expect only the best and brightest candidates who can learn quickly and produce excellent results.

Typically, we are competing with top tier banks for access to the best candidates on an ongoing basis...therefore our starting salaries reflect what you would be paid if you started at a top tier bank.

To answer a few other questions:

- we generally dont offer work experience placements at this stage, although this may change and we will place relevant information on our website which is being upgraded
- we are getting close to 1,000 applications per month for trading jobs so no responses are guaranteed and we are adding to our HR team (already 6 people) to cope with demand and screening requirements
- positions are available in all cities at present

Regards

vkbaby...i had the test last week. Didnt do enough to pass (I did pretty well on the logic but fluffed the maths test). Maths is 30mins and logic 1hr. Maths is simple but tedious...I was expecting SHL style or short mental arithmetic so was caught out.

Questions are like...you buy 3000 shares in X for 2.55 each. You then buy a further 1200 when the price rises to 2.70 and finally sell for 2.65 each. what is your final position?

I found logic easier but I guess it depends on how good you are with these things. Questions included, amongst others... matchstick puzzles and the 'jim wears blue and has an even number, paul is number 3, rachel is wearing pink' kinda questions where u have to identify the missing details bout each character.

Good luck

I calculated the average price of buying the 4200 shares to app. £2.6. As the sales price was £2.65 the profit is £0.05 * 4200 = £210

I've never done tests like these, so I have no idea of how I would perform. :)

Good luck, though. Tibra sounds like a decent company.

hi all,

isnt 240 the answer ??

since, 3000*(2.65-2.55) + 1200*(2.65-2.70) = 300 - 60 = 240

I am recently invited to the tibra trading test session. The recruitment company told me it would be a college level mathematics test. But from all the possible sources I can find, I concluded it would be a 30mins mental arithmetic test and a 1 hour logic test.
