Tibra Trading Europe - About

Hi, this is my first post here, so please overlook any linguistic inadequacies or indeed posting this under the wrong forum (if I am).

I am currently job hunting for graduate positions (and preferably in futures, options trading) and have come across 'Tibra Trading'. I have difficulty trying to find out anything about them, partly due to their website being down. :confused:

Does anybody know anything about them?

I've found out two things about Tibra; they're Australian based and have been started from ex-Optiver and ex-IMC traders.

This is their break into the European markets, from the looks of it.
 
I've found out more things;

They're predominantly an options market maker, Australian based. They're looking to expand operations in other products.
People are very casual, nice and brilliant. This seems to be the market maker culture, to be honest - relaxed, friendly, humble and articulate (a lot of guys I met play games like chess, backgammon, poker and strangely enough Tetris). Heck, last Christmas, Optiver gave it's traders Nintendo DSes (DSs? DSii?). Think Google of trading. Leave those type-A Big Swinging Dick stereotypes with the banks.
It's currently quite small, but most market makers are anyway, it's looking to open an office in Amsterdam and China. It has about 70-80 traders worldwide. These traders are spread across 40 different nationalities, a hallmark of diversity.
One of the directors are in London and the other is in Sydney.
They're getting a new office in High Street Kensington. The current one is rather cramped!
Their website's down currently because the traders keep wanting to add things to it and IT has apparently had enough of that and decided to take it down until all the ideas have been added.
 
Wow people seem to be able to find out a lot despite that fact that we are so Inconspicuous. As a company we don't advertise ourselves a lot. But the info above is correct!
 
all i know is the numerical and logic eams are really hard. For the numerical you need to be able to do long division /multiplication manually (i.e. without calculator) very quickly.

Hope this might help some of you.

I was shown this thread by a staff member and thought i'd make a quick comment.

I was one of the ex-optiver guys referred to and i founded the Tibra Group almost 2 years ago. It was not a 1 man start up though, we had a team of 17 on day 1 and significant capital.

We now have traders (predominantly in equity derivatives) across Asia, Europe and Australia as well as a technology company and a capital management company...

Our website has some info, but will probably still not satisfy gewdward3! We focus on trading and trading systems, so the website has lagged a little.

Basically, we look for the smartest, fastest, most disciplined and motivated people to trade for us across global markets.

We do have some testing but the real test is your first 6 months or so where you are given intensive training.

This is not arcade style trading, we trade serious volume with a large capital backing. We are big enough to compete globally but small enough to reward fairly.

We are generally non directional and rely on market making and arb strategies, along with cutting edge technology that we develop ourselves.

Completed the tests for the firm. They included a numerical test and an IQ/logic test. They last for around 1 and a half hours! I do not expect anyone will complete the tests in the required time frame. However in order to be successful I suggest people practice their mental arithmetic with larger numbers and also dwell into Mensa textbooks. E.g. I buy X number of shares at this price and sell x number at another price but slightly more complicated.

Did the whole interview last for an hour and a half or just the tests? when did you have it?
 
I just sent a CV and cover letter in yesterday. I got a reply today saying it's been received and being reviewed (so pretty impressed with the response as some of the big banks don't even give any recognition to applications.)

I'll just see what happens next....

I'm glad i did a random search on Tibra Trading and found this forum page!

Sent in my resume and coverletter last week and i was impressed that i got an acknowledgment email.

I'm studying in Singapore and i will be graduating in a month's time. Keeping my fingers crossed that they invite me for the logic test.

Does anyone know if Tibra Trading is looking to open offices in Asia?
I'm open to relocating to Europe but the opportunity to work in Hong Kong or China will be great too.
 
Hi everyone. I've been invited for the maths and logical reasoning tests at Tibra Trading. does anyone know what testing format do they use(e.g shl) and what other websites/materials would be helpful to practice these tests?

Hi intercreate,

Could you provide a few specific test questions which Tibra Trading asked please? Also do you know the passing mark or rate of the test? Thank you for your time.
 
Basic maths, you just need to be fast.

Logic test is a pain in the butt, I remember something about rearranging matchsticks.
