Sunspots

Mr Gecko,

That's incredible. Is this derived from a proprietary algorithm or is it from Bloomberg? What page?

Grant.

Listen guys

with the greatest of respect this is my Sunspot thread

perhaps you might continue your fun elsewhere?

FYI - and something of an "olive branch", given I've kinda de-railed your thread just for a little banter

Attached are two papers from sources you might not have access to. They both are extensions to similar arguments that the working paper makes, I thought you might be interested.

P.S. Grant, <CMDTY><CHAFF><HEINZ57><ABC><GO!> - although if I were you I would start by bashing the F1 key repeatedly.

Geomagnetic Disturbance Index

Today's Sun clearly reveals 'an emerging spot in the Southern hemisphere'.
This may translate into a stronger dollar and pullback on EUR.

Therefore looking to buy USD.

If we look at the AP/ Geomagnetic Disturbance Index then today's numbers came in very quiet at 006 which indicates that the emerging Sunspot was nothing more than a tiny zit of very little significance. Dollar continues its slide.

I hope everybody filled their boots in today's bonanza.;)

Thanks Mr. G.

We're all here to learn and have a bit of fun in this traders cyber world.

Personally I never believe anything that is posted on the internet. Least of all pseudo-science-financial though I must say I know a very successful trader who uses chinese astrology.

As for Sun Spot merchants.....

There is another Sunspot forming which may herald a reversal.
The geomagnetic forecast through Thursday is quiet.

Man, this is a funny thread!
Keep it going, its really quite inventive and abstract!

Some newbies, who don't get the SOH, might think its a serious thread though, thats the only issue :-0

JT, some Nanny has deleted my reply saying that this thread is deadly serious.

Now come come moderators give the readers a little more credibility pleeeze!!

Would you like me to put a disclaimer on each post perhaps?

The whole idea of Solar trading is that it gives one a prop.
We all need a prop to trade with whether it be sunspots or tea leaves.

A prop serves two purposes;

(i) It preserves ones sanity by diverting attention from self
(ii) It diverts ones attention from self and hence makes trading decisions easier.

Using the Sun and sunspots to make trading decisions is not proven to make you rich beyond your wildest dreams. In fact looking into the sun can make you blind and mad as well as extremely poor. Any indications to buy or sell on this thread are for purely educational purposes only.

Geddit??!!

Sunspot 998 still present so continuing to hold long USD.

Are you kiddin' me????
This guy CANNOT be serious!

OK JT let's have some calls from your side.
What's the prognosis on the USD?

Actually EURUSD must be due for a bounce if we can gain support again at 1.5400

Although I wouldn't count on a huge retrace.:)

M15 & M30 say EURUSD down, but we have S showing right now in H1 @1.5389, if that goes, the next S level is @ 1.5298.

Just had a bounce off S2 though I suspect it may be a trap.
Until the Sun changes I'm sticking to shorts.

Study: The sun is not producing sunspots
BOZEMAN, Mont., Jun 12, 2008 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Scientists attending a U.S.
international solar conference say the sun has stopped producing sunspots for
the past couple of years.

Although periods of solar inactivity are normal, the researchers said the
current dormant period has gone on longer than usual.

The anomaly was a major point of discussion for approximately 100 scientists
from Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and North America who attended last
week's solar conference at Montana State University.

Dana Longcope, a solar physicist at Montana State University, said the sun
usually operates on an 11-year cycle with maximum solar activity occurring in
the middle of the cycle. Minimum activity generally occurs as the cycles change.
Solar activity refers to phenomena such as sunspots, solar flares and solar
eruptions that, together, can disrupt satellites in space and technology on
Earth.

The next cycle is just beginning and is expected to reach its peak sometime
around 2012. But currently the sun is as inactive as it was two years ago and
scientists said they aren't sure why.

They said the sun once went 50 years without producing sunspots and that period
coincided with a little ice age on Earth that lasted from 1650 to 1700.

Well what are these then?

S.O.N. | Sunspotters | From Satellites | SOHO MDI

"Misleading; that image is from 2003".

They also used Tri-X film pushed to 2200 ASA which also emphasises the film grain to a massive degree. Image degredation is further compounded by forcing development times. Thus, spots.

Hey guys I already asked you nicely to leave my thread alone....

....just trying to have a bit of fun and make the trading day more interesting.

Why the need to discredit it? If I choose to see sunspots then why can't I?
It's a free public forum, isn't it? Would like me to come and haunt every single post you make because believe me I can return the favour in spades if you like...:devilish:

Anymore derailment and I will cease posting and join the many others who have ceased posting and you spoilers have the whole place to yourselves.

Is that what you want?
