Actually I think it's in no small part because they have a mandate to increase numbers in CID etc. That's what I hear anyway.

I heard on the radio this morning that the Police are short of 5000 detectives!

The number of crimes that go unsolved I'm not surprised. Personally I'm short detectives and long chavs
