Hey all,

I'm new to this forum... and forums period. I've made a new years resolution to become a better investor and/or trader. I'm not happy with my investing performance in the past.. and anything I have tied into mutual funds is so hard to understand and manipulate if necessary.

A good buddy of mine is a decent trader and he gives me some advice... but that's not going to cut it when it comes to real money right?! Well, I open this post up for any advice for a new trader. I'm searching around the Internet for some good information and I''m not looking to pay a ton.

2010 is my year to take my financial destiny in my own hands... any advice will be welcomed. If you feel the same, continue to follow me cuz I want to post about my journey. Hope you find success everyone and I'll check back tomorrow...

Paper trading is a great way to learn, I completely agree Travis. Thanks for the input. I've seen some info on Interactive Brokers and I'll have to take a deeper look at that as well.

In my search in the last few days, I did stumble across some free classes that I thought were interesting. I'll withhold the name now because I want to get a clear idea of what they're doing and the quality of the content... but I am interested.

Needless to say... education and practice can help anyone!

I'll take a look at those thanks... What I'm enrolled in for free right now is an interactive class via internet. It's very informative, relates to current topics, and the organizers care about people.

Thanks for your help Travis

I saw in the Wall Street Journal this morning a cool article - How about HP and Microsoft coming to the table together to create software... nice partnership there.

I wish I knew enough to make a trade off of it though... ha!

A question for you all - What is the best piece of advice you've every received regarding trading the market?

Thanks for your responses

I'd thought I'd post an update from my learning experience. This free class I'm taking spend some time talking about trader mentalities and how the PEOPLE that trade the market can have trackable patterns. Pretty interesting, with beginner eyes... price movements look random to me.

Continuing to learn because... well, I haven't got a bailout yet... Nor do I want one! :)
