I am beginning to think you are some sort of Trader groupie BSD.
Couldn't you pick a more attractive group to dote on ?
Lol nah but I do believe in benchmarking.
If I'd want to become a great golfer - which I don't btw - I'd go study Tiger and Co, and out of several styles I'd like and feel good about synthesize a new one for me.
When I made a commitment to not just have a go but actually make it as a trader I set about identifying what united those that had provably made it, ie pure book writers etc didn't count, it had to be people with a public record, or people I met on boards and then visited in trading firms, etc.
So I first tried to find out everything about those successful traders that I could, and it pretty quickly became clear that method wasn't even remotely the most important thing as everyone was doing something slightly differently, even if at the end of the day all you can do is buy low and sell high, OR buy high and sell higher, irrespective of whats driving that, ie technical, fundamnetal, moon cycles lol, whatever, that's all there is in directional trading, even if there are lots of nuances.
But what became perfectly clear was that the single most important aspect was keeping your risk under very, very tight control, while going for robust expectancy through following that old cliché of going for larger winners than losers with win rates of around 50 or 60%, and even way lower for classic trend following methods that are nevertheless extremely net profitable.
There were some scalpers who did it the other way round, ie smaller profits than losses, and with far higher hit rates, but that's not really scalable so not that interesting.
And as I had zero interest in re-inventing the wheel I just went and identified the truly success relevant factors from a peer group that had been there, done that, and that was thankfully very accessible.
That's they way I'd always go about starting a business in an established field, identify the benchmark leaders, copy what you can from them, synthesize together elements that fit your needs, and then improve it where possible.
Mean, I dunno about Elders hangouts, but in certain bars where it's known traders frequent em ?
London ?
Certain clubs there ?
I'd wager it's not unheard of.
Right off to the gym now.
