Someone told me that you used to be able to go to some of the Barclays branches in the city and, quite literally over the counter, buy micro cable options... about ten/fifteen years ago... can't find any evidence on the internet one way or the other. Anyone know anything about this?
 
In those days, the main fx options exchange was the Philly iirc the contract size was pretty small, and am almost certain that private punters could purchase exhange-traded options via the share dealing desk at the larger high street banks.
 
They use to have a market eye in the HSBC in romford about 10 years ago, they used to get really fed up of us going in there a putting teletext on it to check the football news!
