How do I get a position trading for a firm?

Hi Everyone,

I have been looking at this site for a while and decided to register and post to see if anyone could help me.

About two years ago I started using my savings to actively 'trade' equities, averaging around 5-15 trades per month. Over this period I have successfully grown my protfolio by c.120% (not annualised). I buy equities, warrants, CFDs, and use spread betting platforms to enable me to take both long and short positions.

I would characterise my investment strategy as contrarian, value based, and also driven by macro economic views (I did Economics as a degree and masters at Oxford and got a high first).

Im considering giving up my full time job (as a strategy consultant) to become a full time trader, if that is possible. I don't have sufficient capital to use my own money to finance this (and have mortgage payments to make!). Does anyone have any suggestions? Ideally I would love to find a firm that would take me on and offer a relatively small salary and small amount of capital that I could (hoepfully!) grow and earn access to greater amounts of capital if/when my trading history deserved it.

Would greatly appreciate any suggestions / names of firms etc.

Thanks

I'm in a similar position to the OP....trading a relatively small account, but consistently profitable over a few years, but still under capitalised to go full time...

Have been looking into the some of the remote trading firms, particularly US ones, as I daytrade US equities, and they seem to generally require a deposit, offer large buying power but limited daily loss / risk limits....making it difficult to utilise the increased buying power effectively.

So any losses come from your deposit while your either giving up a significant % of profits or pay high monthly / share transaction costs...meaning you're effectively still trading your own capital, possibly with increased risk due to increased leverage, while handing over a chunk of your profits....

So, does anyone know of / use / recommend a remote trading firm where maybe they start you off small with their own capital, and build up size as you prove consistency etc...

There are less and less firms which start you off with their own capital.
