HFT High Frequency Trading Programs

Fast computers, relatively cheap, prime real estate near the exchange, not so much.

Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. (NASDAQ GS:IBKR) is the first online broker to offer direct access to IEX to its investors, traders and institutions. IEX is an ATS designed to focus on investor protection and performance.

Interactive Brokers’ (IB) sophisticated customer base may now choose to send their US stock orders to IEX directly. Customers also have the choice of using IB SmartRoutingSM technology. IB SmartRouting searches for the best firm stock, option and combination prices available at the time of the order, and seeks to immediately execute the order electronically.

assuming based on your post that this is a recent offer, why wasnt this offered prior to the current bad publicity which has finally reached MSM (though has been discussed widely from 5 years prior)?

are you also reactive to the MSM?

or are you just in cohoots with the MSM & assorted crony capitalists? (rheotrical q)

the spee in which you have reacted is in fact more suspicious....did you have contingencies in place if/when the beans (free money) were spilled (stopped), this being one?

and after the next expose of a fixed market, what offers do you have lined up next?

i clearly missed the FI perks you were providing post the libor scandal. the fx / PMs / energy offers are perhaps in my spam folder.

This is just automated scalping on crack. As retail traders with minimal trade flow, HFT's probably aren't out there to rip you off because it doesn't trigger their system. What we should really be worried about are predatory algos that move in herds to gun for stops, induce temporary trends and change price patterns. This is a very real phenomenon and is far more destructive than HFT. Flip through the daily and 30-min charts on any volatile stocks nowadays and you will see clear signs of stop gunning. You'll also see in stocks that have been crushed lately to see very linear and artificial intra-day trends before crashing again. This is used to lure buyers into a trap. It's happening more and more frequently but not many people take notice of these patterns and blindly follow classic technical analysis without understanding what its core is about.
