the important thing is to understand what it is doing and test it to see if that is what floats your boat ........or not !

It floats his boat, sometimes. There is no reason for it, it just looks good, probably because it has repeated its performance several times and gives an impression that it may happen again.

That is all there is to any indicator.

The guy want just to start learning. Do not push him into deep water it is too early for him. Moving averages are the basic indicators which are used in many other indicators.
