Domain name types: Which are the best extensions?

When looking for a domain name, which are best extensions to go for?
Obviously, .COM, .CO.UK, .NET.

Are there are any other types that are worth buying up?
Is .APP worth it?
.GLOBAL?
.SHOP?

Also, any recommendations for any host? Godaddy?

(.com) is generally the most established domain but in the uk (.co.uk) is fine. I left GD after several years after they kept ramping up prices to a level where they were no longer competitive. PM me if you want another provider that I now use who I have been happy with for the last 3 years.

I think .COM is always the best option that envokes the most trust. .APP could work for some cases but .COM is still probably going to be better.

ended up getting all the major ones: .COM, .CO.UK, .APP, .ORG, etc, just to cover the major bases.
