Daily Dax

is this a Dow breakout..
looking interesting on the 4 hour charts
might be an interesting finish

Dax at the upper end again 5045 this has contained up for a while now
again looking at the 4 hour chart
any break prob led by the dow breaking 10600 could take us back to 5100
Dax certainly looks up for it..
to use a technical term

I cant understand how you can scalp without using a 1 min chart.

i try not to scalp, but more often than not, im taking profit after about 3-9 3 minute bars and use the larger time frames for perspective.

the larger time frames in this market are a little 'dirty' in my opinion, i find it hard to gauge the general direction of the market, and find the 3 minute chart the best to hold an intermediate length position.

i am thinking about not trading this market anymore as i feel that there are others which trade better technically and more suited to my style.

Livermore

I am plased to say I got a good portion of the FTSE and the Dax move....
thats certainly i this instance went up in line with the Dow

Dead Link nah...

Julian...very interesting post the other day...

Time value of fibonnaci
does that imply that
there is some time decay to the potency of the
indicated level over time
or that.. the first time a limit is hit and index bounces off it
has a higher probability that it doing ti again....

Tell me more please

Trick on he Dax and ftse yesterday made a few points
but better to have stayed out imo...

I am finding establishing a medium term position quite difficult
the main significant levels are now the old highs...
and its seems simply a case of are we going to take them out
or will the market be contained and range trade

Any thoughts anybody

OK. So you want to trade forex?

primarily yes, only because i think its better for position trades, and in the meanwhile i can probably try and scalp off the dax,

So you think it's more easy to scalp Dax than forex?

for me I find the Dax easier to take a few points off than forex..
athough with both surely its much better to be riding a trend over a period....
than chipping bits off....over a short time frame...

Of course yu need to have a trend and fibs etc to do that off of....
not so obvious at the moment

for me the dax is easier to scalp because only a 0.5 spread

fx better for positions because it trends well

scalping fx kills me and holding on too long on the dax kills me also. either way i try to let my positions run as far as possible.

Yes, a nice spread, but we also have to pay commissions...

im interested to know how others go about trading this crazy market.

having learnt the majority of this business trading forex, i have found what works for me in that market doesnt work for me with the dax.

i trade Dax futures using 3, 10 and 30 minute timeframes without any indicators, even the odd trendline and MA are obsolete most of the time. MA's do a terrible job at determining trend on an intraday basis as more often than not the dax doesnt have one, trendlines get violated very easily, breaking through them for fun, so i scrapped them, the only guidance i have are support and resistance levels, price and volume.

even indicators get thrown out of sync on gaps and give very delayed signals which leads to whipsaws.

what are your methods??

Still trading/scalping the Dax?

yes, but not as frequently as before, only when the forex is a bit slow as i trade that from a 15 minute time frame, could be in a trade upto 4 hours.

how are you getting on?
